2015 Hair Trends: What Was Hot And What Was Not

Hair now, gone tomorrow! That’s how fickle ladies are with their locks. As long as you aren’t a Goldilocks incarnate who swears by her oil-braid-die routine, you must have either tried or dreamt of trying out one of these trends from this year. Well, not all of them are nice. But hey, they were everywhere (in some cases, all over the place as well!), so they are on our list too.
What Was Hot
1. The Wob
Yes, you read that right. The wavy bob, if you must insist. This was on every shoulder across the red carpets and Page 3 parties. Easy to maintain, easier to get, this is the Rachel cut of 2015. Yes, Self said so too. It is cute and sexy and here to stay for a while. Thumbs up all the way!
2. The Lob
No, we aren’t making these up! We’ll be upfront and honest, this is the worst of names for anything. The hairstyle, though, is anything but. You could curl it, roll it, or even flat iron it and the long bob (yes that is what the word actually means!) is the most versatile trend this year. Looks pretty perfect on any face and anyone. This is easy to maintain too.
Caution: Not making that much-needed trip to the hairstylist and letting the hair grow out the actual bob is NOT what this is all about. Yes, we are sure.
3. Silver Foxes Ahoy
Gone are the days when gray hair was for grandmas! This year saw young ones queue up at salons to dye their hair gray. The silver fox look is in, and how. The process to get this (apart from aging that is) is tough and long, yet everyone seems to be in with it. Gray, ash gray, pastel white – the choice is yours. So is the blend – stark or finely blended. Take your pick and end up exuding elegance without the wrinkles. Gray fever is here to stay, people.
What Was Not
4. Technicolored Hues
Either you really hate your mom, or you are cast in the Wachowski brothers’ next sci-fi film. Nothing else explains hair colored lilac or pink or purple or blue or…you get the drift. This is, by far, the worst hair trend ever, leave alone the year 2015. What’s worse is that it caught on like wildfire. Speaking of which, there is a bright flame orange version to this trend too! Yikes! If there is one thing we do not want to see in the New Year, it is you looking like a cotton candy grew on your scalp while you were asleep.
5. The Side Braid
Elsa was hot, and we all loved Frozen, But darling, it’s time to let it go. The Elsa-inspired side braid is just so passé! I mean, it’s been done to death, don’t you think? Also, because maybe being a woman, instead of looking like a kid waiting for guests at her imaginary tea party, is also in. Go easy on this one, because 2015 gave us the worst of this trend. Especially the over bleached version of it. That is also a downer by the way, just in case you had doubt.
