At least 8 hours each night. Sounds familiar? Well, you must have heard this countless times from your mother, your doctor, and read it in books and articles related to health. If there is one rule that you must absolutely follow for leading a good and healthy lifestyle, it is to get at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. If you think this is just another ‘fact’ that’s being thrown at you, think again. Sleeping for at least 8 hours each night can give your body, skin and health many benefits. The health benefits are something you will experience over a period of time but the skin benefits will be visible a lot sooner.Here is how you can get beautiful skin when your sleeping.

1. Clean your face:
The first step to make sure that your skin gets to breathe properly through the night is to clean it nicely with water. This will also remove any traces of makeup or products you may have used through the day.
Once you’ve cleaned your face, make sure you take a good moisturiser and apply it liberally all over your face. Massage the cream nicely on your face and let it seep in through the skin to give you healthy skin in the morning. Your skin gets dehydrated while you sleep, so using a good moisturiser will give it necessary hydration.
3. Eye Cream:
Whether you are going to bed early or late, applying a good eye-cream is always a good idea. In case you don’t use eye-cream, take a gentle moisturiser and apply it nicely around your eyes, dotting it out and slowly massaging around the eye area. The skin underneath and around your eyes is the thinnest area on the face, so it’s a good idea to put more moisturiser to let it seep in and prevent puffy eyes and wrinkles. A good cream with Vitamin E is a great moisturiser that you can use.
4. Scrub out the lips:
You may have applied a host of products on your lips the whole day, applying and reapplying and touching up many times. If you haven’t, your lips may have dried out during the day, leaving dry flaky skin and hurting. A great way to wake up to beautiful smooth lips in the morning is exfoliating your lips before you go to bed each night. One of the simplest ways to do this is by dampening your toothbrush and rubbing it over your lips, without any paste on. This helps removes dead skin and flakes. To make your own lip scrub at home, mix 1 tablespoon ground sugar with 1 tablespoon olive oil and scrub over your lips. Once you’ve washed it off, apply a good moisturising lip-balm for the night.
5. Sock Up:
Wearing socks on cold feet to bed has benefits such as helping you sleep better and increasing your blood circulation. Tall socks are OK to wear even if they feel slightly tight because they aren’t applying any significant amount of pressure. Wearing tall, tight socks may make your feet feel better at the end of the day because the pressure increases circulation, which can help your legs feel less tired, less heavy and have less swelling. The extra layer under the covers can help improve circulation in your extremities, which can help you fall asleep more quickly.
