1. Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose):

Also known as the Diamond Pose, it enhances the supply of blood and energy to the upper part of the human body. It improves the power of digestion, thus warding off the digestive disorders triggering hair fall. Studies have proven that regular practice of this asana for a period of 3 months have resulted in lowering hair fall problems.

How To Do

  • Sit on your knees while your buttocks rest on the heels.
  • Place your palms, facing downwards, on the thighs.
  • Keep your back straight.
  • Inhale and exhale deeply.

Try to hold the pose for at least 60 to 120 seconds, while repeating 15 to 20 times for a period of 3 months.

2. Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog Pose):

This pose is an ideal stress-buster. Since your head comes down while doing this pose, it stimulates the flow of blood to the head. Thus, it is an ideal asana for relaxing yourself as well as to trigger hair growth.

How To Do

  • Stand on the mat with your feet flat, keeping your spine erect. Place the hands on either side of your body with palms facing your thighs.
  • Breath normally. Slowly bring your body and head forward, coordinating with each other, in such a way that as your palms touch the mat you should be facing the ground.
  • Stretch your left leg backward slowly. Now, repeat the process with your right leg as well. Make sure that your hands and feet are in sync so that you will not lose balance and topple off.
  • Inhale deeply, tuck the tummy in and hold the position for about 60 to 90 seconds.
  • Exhale completely, while slowly coming back to the initial pose.

Repeat 5 to 7 times, for at least 90 days.

3. Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand Pose):

This is one of the most important asanas as it offers numerous benefits. Along with purifying the blood and optimizing the functioning of the thyroid gland, this asana offers you the chance to flaunt strong hair.

How To Do

  • Lie down on the mat in prone position.
  • Exhale completely. Now, inhaling slowly lift your legs until they make 90 degrees with the floor.
  • Now, exhale and simultaneously raise your waist while pushing your legs backward beyond your head.
  • Using your hands support your waist.
  • Continue the pose for about 30 to 60 seconds while breathing normally.
  • Exhale slowly, bend the knees, curve back, and slowly return to prone position.

Repeat thrice, relaxing for 15 to 30 seconds after each asana.

4. Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend Pose):

This pose helps in stimulating the blood circulation in the upper body, thus being a good relief for those suffering from hair loss.



How To Do

  • Stand in Tadasana, with your feet lying flat on the mat.
  • Inhale deeply. While exhaling and lifting your hands, bend forward so that the fingers touch the floor. Those who are new to yoga can try touching their toes or the left elbow with the right hand and vice versa.
  • Breathing normally, hold the position for 30 to 60 seconds.
  • Inhaling deeply, slowly come back to Tadasana.

Repeat thrice, relaxing for 15 to 30 seconds after each asana.

5. Ustrasana (Camel Pose):

This pose aids in improving the blood flow to the brain. Hence, this yoga asana has been advised by Baba Ramdev for hair growth.

How To Do

  • Sit on the mat, spine erect, on your knees in such a way that the thighs make an angle of 90 degrees with the ground.
  • Place your hands on the waist, with thumb behind and other fingers into the front.
  • Inhaling deeply, slowly bend backward.
  • Hold the right feet with a right hand and left feet with the left hand. If you are more flexible, you can bend further to touch the soles.
  • Hold the pose for about 30 to 60 seconds, breathing normally, eyes to the ceiling,  depending on your level of comfort.
  • Slowly exhale and come back to your knees.

Relax in Balasana for 15 to 30 seconds before repeating. Repeat thrice.
