12 Effective Home Remedies To Get Rid Of A Dark Neck August 1, 2017

A glowing face and a dark, tanned neck – definitely not a good combo! We pamper our face with regular facials and massage treatments at the salon. However, we don’t take enough care enough of our neck. And, as a result, it becomes dull and pigmented.

We tend to ignore our neck while cleansing our face. Over time, dirt and pollutants accumulate and damage the skin around your neck. And, even if you do wash and scrub your neck, you might forget to moisturize. This results in dark patches, wrinkles, and other blemishes.

Taking care of the skin on your neck is important. This article talks about different methods you can use to get rid of the dark skin on your neck. Let’s first look at the main causes of a dark neck, and then what can be done at home to protect and pamper it naturally.

What Causes A Dark Neck?

The foremost reason for a dark neck is poor hygiene. Other factors that contribute to this are:

  • Exposure to the sun for long periods
  • Environmental pollutants
  • Chemicals in cosmetics or skin care products
  • Obesity and/or diabetes

Eczema or fungal infections cause skin darkening. A hormonal condition known as Acanthosis Nigricans can also cause darkening of the skin around the neck and other parts of the body (1). For these conditions, use remedies that treat the problem. For common causes, such as sun exposure and lack of hygiene, the remedies given below can help to lighten the dark skin on your neck.

I’ve been getting some dark lines on my neck , which look really odd, especially in pictures. What do you recommend I do for it ?

    • http://www.stylecraze.com/ StyleCraze

Hi Stella, dark neck lines can be caused due to excessive exposure to the sunlight leading to the formation of tan or accumulation of dirt. Neck region should be taken care just like face. Cleansing, toning and moisturizing should be limited to the face but also the neck region. Application of sunscreen is also recommended before you step outside. Apply a lemon juice mask to lighten the neck region. Take one tsp of lemon juice and mix it with one tsp of rose water. Apply this on your neck and leave it overnight. n the morning, wash your neck with water. Continue to do this everyday till you see a difference.
