Whether the air is dry, hot or cold – our poor lips suffer the most! There is no denying of the fact that the lips are the softest part of our face. They definitely need attention! All of us suffer from chapped, dry and flaky lips, irrespective of the skin type. The layers of crusty, dry, flaky, peeling dead skin can leave our lips looking dull. We usually end up biting, tugging or pulling them off, which ultimately leads to bleeding. And then it is back to the same routine! But is there a better solution? There sure is!
You can exfoliate your lips and make them look smooth and soft. I have created a simple lip exfoliating trick by using products readily available at home. It is created to remove those annoying dead skin layers and reveal the soft baby-like lips underneath! You really don’t have to purchase any expensive lip scrubs as you can prepare it on your own at home!
Here is a list of products, which are required to prepare the lip exfoliating recipe:
- A tablespoon of white sugar or brown sugar.
- A teaspoon of honey. If you don’t like too much of sweetness on your lips, then I would recommend you to substitute it with a teaspoon of olive oil or coconut oil.
- A tiny drop of vanilla essence (optional).
- A small container (if you want to store the mixture).
- A teaspoon of Vaseline or any lip balm.
Beauty Hack For Your Smooth Lips:
Follow the steps to prepare the beauty hack for your smooth lips:
Mix all the ingredients in the ratio mentioned above in a clean plate or a bowl. You can increase the quantity for storing it according to your preference. Remember that the above mixture will last you for a single use. As it is simple to make, I always make the homemade lip scrub for immediate use. If you are planning to store it, then use a clean, well sanitized storage container.
After mixing all the ingredients, you can directly start applying the mixture as shown in the image. Gently pat the product all over your lips. The lip scrub contains exfoliating properties, such as honey. So, it might drip on your clothes. To prevent this, wear old clothes or tie a small napkin around your neck to avoid any staining on your clothes.

Now, take a clean toothbrush or an old mascara wand for scrubbing your lips. It is important to choose a toothbrush, which has soft and thin bristles. Avoid using rough bristled brushes as it will hurt your lips and result in bleeding.
Place the brush on the lips and gently brush your lips back and forth as shown in the image. Create short circular motions to remove the dryness and chapped bits of dead skin from your lips. If you feel the toothbrush is dry, then add a tiny amount of Vaseline to the brush. This will increase the elasticity and help brushing off the dead skin layers. Keep brushing gently with a light hand till you feel all the dry peels of skin have been removed.

Now, grab a clean tissue paper and wipe off your lips and that’s it. You will notice baby-like soft lips with absolutely no signs of dryness or flakiness.
Try this easy and simple lip exfoliating recipe to brush off all the dead skin cells from your lips to get those soft and supple lips. Though this trick removes all the dryness, I do recommend using lip balm every 3 hours to maintain softer and plumper lips. I would also warn you not to apply this lip scrub frequently as it might hurt your skin and your lips might bleed. It is best to use this recipe once a week to pamper your lips.
So what are you waiting for? Make some lip scrub and reveal your beautiful lips to the world!
