Ever wondered, what it would be like if you did not have to spend your hard-earned money on beauty treatments every month? Especially since salons these days are just so damn expensive? Well, here is a little something that will help you ditch the salon. We are going to talk about how to do a nail spa at home.
Do not be surprised as it is not a very difficult thing to do! With a little guidance, you can do it on your own.
Below are the basic steps of how to do a nail spa at home.
- A tub
- Warm and cold water
- Sea salts (optional)
- Raw milk

Procedure/How to go about it:
Remove old nail paint with a cotton wool dipped in nail paint remover.
Soak your hands and feet in a tub containing lukewarm water. To this lukewarm water, add raw milk, essential oils, baking soda and shower gel.
Choice of essential oils is personal. If your aim is just to breathe in a relaxing aroma, go for Jasmine or Lavender oil. If you want a cooling sensation, choose either peppermint oil or tea tree oil.

- It helps soften nail cuticles.
- It helps soften the skin for exfoliation.
- Lactic acid in milk helps remove the dead skin cells.
- Essential oils help in moisturizing the skin.
- Shower gel helps get rid of dirt and grime.
Next comes scrubbing. Use a good quality scrub on the skin of your hands and feet using circular motion. Here, it is advisable to use a scrub with moderately abrasive granules and not a mild one that you use for your face. Any Walnut or Apricot-based scrub should be good.
Wash your hands and feet with normal/cool water. Wipe off with a clean towel.
Use a nail cutter to cut your nail in the shape you like most. File your nails. Keep the strokes unidirectional, while filing.
Moisturize your hands and feet with a good quality body lotion and also a foot cream.
Warm a little olive oil/coconut oil and apply it on your nails and cuticles. Leave it on for 5 minutes.
Wipe off the oil. Use a cuticle-pushing stick to push back your cuticles. Do not cut the cuticles as, it might lead to infection.
Buff your nails and apply a base coat. Top it with your favourite nail colour.
