4 Foods To Avoid For Losing Weight August 4, 2016

You’ve always been told to eat fruits to stay healthy. They are supposed to be loaded with health benefits that are good for your overall wellbeing. While this is generally true, there are some instances where having fruits is not really the right choice. In most cases, people who are on a weight-loss diet go on a fruit-only diet, believing it will help them lose weight faster.

But did you know that you need to avoid eating fruits if you really want to lose weight? This may seem weird, but it’s true. Fruits are packed with a large amount of sugar. Approximately 5 servings of fruit in a day are equal to the amount of sugar you get in 500ml of soda. The sugar content in fruits tends to shut down the fat burning process in our body. This leads to an increase in hunger and a craving for food.

If you are on a diet, it is important that you avoid high-fat, high-sugar and high nutrient (calories) fruits. For example, an apple has 72 calories, a banana has 105 calories and an orange has 64 calories. So it is better to avoid these options if you are trying to lose weight.

Some foods to avoid for weight loss are mentioned below:

This is a definite on the list of foods to avoid to lose weight.

Avocado is a fruit that is high in its fat content. Eating half an avocado will give you 141 calories and 26 grams of fat. This is why the USDA recommends eating only 1/6th of this fruit especially if you want to lose weight.

3. Sweetened Canned and Frozen Fruit:

Processed fruits have extra calories and sugar that are not good, especially while you’re on a weight loss program. American Diabetes Association strictly suggests avoiding fruits that are packed in heavy syrup. This includes frozen sweetened strawberries which contain 245 calories. On the other hand, 1 cup of fresh unsweetened strawberries has only 53 calories. Canned pears are packed with 197 calories, which is definitely not good if you want to lose weight.
