Hearts and Roses Nail Art Tutorial
Things You Need:
- A base coat (optional)
- Dark pinkish nail polish of your choice
- Cotton bud and nail polish remover
- A toothpick
- A nail art brush
- A good quality top coat
- Golden metallic chain bits
- Small hearts
- Yellow nail art flowers in big and small (preferably seven small and four big)
- Plastic hearts
Let’s get started.
The base coat is optional in this nail art. I am directly starting off by swiping a double coat of dark pinkish nail polish in the manner shown below.
Now place dollops of transparent polish on the colored area and then pick one single plastic heart (you may use stones too) with your toothpick’s pointed end and place it properly. In this way, make a curved line with the hearts.

Take transparent polish and apply a line on the border of the dark pinkish color. Now take tweezers and place bits of golden metallic chains on the border. Correct their position with a toothpick.
Now put transparent polish onto the places where you have not applied any color. Take one big and one small flower for each of the nails and stick them up onto the polish dollops. Take two flowers, both in small size for the tiny finger, though. For the thumb, you need two small and one big yellow flowers.

Take the cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover and cleaned up any stray polishes from the sides of the nails. Now apply two nice layers of top coat, apply more at the roots of the flowers and let everything dry completely.
Here are your hearts and roses nails in its final sweet form. Try it out. It is very easy and doesn’t need too much of artistic ability. You should and must give it a try.
- Black nail polish. I have used Hard Candy
- Artificial nails (for demo)
- Red acrylic nail paint
- Maroon acrylic nail paint
- Green acrylic nail paint
- White acrylic nail paint
- Detailing brush or zero number brush.
- A transparent top coat. I suggest, Deborah Lippmann Addicted to Speed Top Coat (a long-lasting and high-shine top coat that dries within a few minutes.)
- Base coat. Try: Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat
Steps For Rose Nail Art:
Begin by applying a good layer of base coat on your nails to prevent dark colors from staining your nail beds and harmful effects of acrylic paint. Let it dry. Once done, apply a double coat of black nail polish. Refer the image below.
Next, mix white and red acrylic colors to make light pink color and with the help of your nail art brush make uneven circles on your nails as shown in the picture below:
For the next step, mix green and white acrylic colors to make lighter green shade to draw the leaves. Draw leaf-like pattern on either side of your circles as shown in picture:
Once it dries, take maroon color to define the circles. Make small “c” or “u” curves to define it. Completely fine if the shape is not perfect. Take a cue from the picture below:
Now define your leaves also with the darker shade of green as shown:
For an artistic touch, draw flowers here and there on all fingers.
Use a cotton swab dipped in acetone to clean the color. off your fingers.
Apply two good layers of the transparent top coat to seal in your nail art. So, here you have the girly vintage roses in its final form.
Hope you all love this design. You can make these flowers on following backgrounds too:

Let’s get started with Antique Roses Nail Art:
Things you will need:
- A base coat (This is a must when you are using acrylic paints on your nails because paints are harmful)
- A golden Nail Polish
- A black Acrylic Color
- A nail art brush
- A transparent polish
- Some mini plastic pearls
- A toothpick
- A cotton bud and remover for cleaning traces of stray polish or paints
After painting your nails with at least two coats of a nice base coat, apply a double coating of the golden polish as shown below. The more metallic the shade, the better.
Take the nail art brush and start your job on your nails. It’s best to practice drawing a small tiny rose on a piece of paper first. Crescent curves – with each curve touching the next, is an easy way to draw a full bloom rose. Follow the pictures.
Leaves are very easy to draw, keep the shape in mind and swipe your brush across.
You can draw any types of roses or leaves.
A. The Thumb
B. First finger
C. Middle Finger
D. Third Finger
E. Tiny finger
Apply a nice layer of top coat and flaunt it. It should look something like below.
If you have and want to use mini plastic pearls, the follow this procedure:
After finishing the drawing, take a toothpick and put dollops of transparent polish in the center of the roses. Next, dip the pointed end of the toothpick into transparent polish and carefully pick a single pearl at a time and stick them onto the dollops of clear polish.
Put a thick layer of the transparent top coat to seal in your newly created design to make the pearls hold firm and last long. Re-application of transparent top coat every 2-3 days will keep your nail art, and the pearls stay in place for at least a week.
