11 Makeup Trends To Leave Behind In 2015

Written by StyleCraze  •

No woman can ever be casual about makeup! Makeup and fashion always go together, and though you might update yourself with the latest fashion trends, it is essential to check whether you are on the right track as far as makeup is concerned. So, go on, and read!

1. 3D Nail Art

Bid goodbye to the laborious 3D nail art on your almond shaped nails. This year is all about negative space and shorter nail lengths. Display a bit of the natural smooth texture of your nails.

2. Black Lipstick

The black lipstick is no longer trending because of the daring look it throws open. Switch to berry shades and burnt shades of red that would suit all occasions and attires, no matter what your skin type is.

3. Oversized Buns

Oversized buns are not anymore on the high trending list. While the imitation of an old, classic style appeared to be stylish in 2015, it would seem artificial in 2016, even if it is done for thematic night parties. Instead, loose hair, ponies, or French knots would be much preferred.

4. High Ponytails

High ponytails are to be avoided. Instead, fix your ponytails lower, just above the nape of your neck. This style suits you best, even for formal occasions, and gives you a smarter, more sophisticated, and groomed look.

5. Dark Smoky Eyes

Dark, jet black smoky eyes are no more trending. If you are very particular about having smoky eyes, try to make it multi-dimensional. Use more shades of gray, gray-black, and black from your palette of eyeshadows. Blend it properly from your lashline to your brow bone. If you are not very particular about a smoky look, use a black liner on the waterlines of your eyes and try to smudge it outwards lightly.

6. Highlighter Overload

Highlighter overload on the nose and cheeks is no longer trending. Go for subtle makeup. Restrict the use of highlighters to a bare minimum for night parties and other such occasions.

7. Forced Waves

Forced waves have also gone down with 2015. A little curvy wave is the upcoming trend. You may work it down with a flat iron and let it loose all over your shoulders. It gives you a casual look all day without being monotonously overdone.

8. Contouring

Heavy contouring had recently become a daily routine. This is also fading away as it is much visible in natural light.

9. Pastel Colored Hair

Pastel colors like pink shades were a trend in 2015. But now, more and more actresses and models in Hollywood are giving up this trend and opting for the somber shades of brown, burgundy, and black, the main reason being the natural look.

10. Silver/White Eyeliner

Silver/white eyeliner, especially drawn on the lower waterline of your eyes, an attempt at a ghastly cat look, is a trend that goes down in 2016. It was not preferable as a morning wear in 2015 either, and advertisements were quite unsuccessful in translating the idea of making it a daily wear. However, it could be used as a thin line to define your eyes over a blue/black eyeliner, especially along the tail line at all times. It helps to give a fresh, young feeling to your eyes.

11. Artificial Eyelashes

Eyelashes that are too curvy and high, sticking out explicitly, clearly make your eyes attractive but only at the expense of great artificiality. Discard your artificial lashes and, instead, rely on good curling mascaras. If you really desire to highlight your lashes, apply four to five generous coats of mascara. Leave one to two minutes in between so that one coat dries out completely before the application of the second. You will have gorgeous and natural-looking lashes. If you are very particular about using those fan-like lashes, cut them in half and apply only to the outer corners of your eyes.
