9 Morning Habits You Can Start Right Now That Will Prepare You For Everything

Written by Chandrama Deshmukh •

Waking up each morning can prove to be quite a chore, irrespective of whether you are or aren’t a morning person. In today’s world, pressure from school, work or any other source can make life extremely stressful. This may often cause us to have a disturbed night of sleep, which may leave us exhausted in the morning that follows. Hence, it is important to spend the day at one’s own pace and not struggle to complete each day. So, here is a list of 9 morning habits that can help you feel energized and well prepared to face the challenges the new day has to offer!

1. Get Out Of The Bed As Soon As You Wake Up

It is extremely important for you to get out of the bed the moment your alarm rings. This is because of the fact that your body is at its most ‘awake’ the moment you wake up. Tossing around in the bed will only make you want to go back to sleep once again. Hence, being able to get out of the bed at the earliest is a great way to start off your day with a lot of energy.

2. Get Hydrated

It is extremely important for you to understand that your body (post a good night’s sleep) has been without any water for a good 6-8 hours. Although you do not carry out any physical activity while in bed, your body still carries out functions such as repair, digestion, and breathing! All these tasks make your body thirsty. Therefore, it is important to consume at least two full glasses of water before doing anything else once you wake up in the morning (1).

3. Think Positive

You should wake up every morning by thinking of something positive and saying it out loud to yourself. This is a great way to start off your day with good vibes and a high amount of energy. Think of something that sparks the passion within you. You can also recite the moment or activity that you look forward to the most during the day. Whatever helps you raise your energy levels!

4. Stretch Those Limbs

Like any other mechanical machine, our body too becomes rusty if we neglect it. After 6-8 hours of no physical exercise whatsoever, it is important to start off by not just getting up and walking around, but also doing exercises such as pushups, jumping jacks, and sit ups. These exercises help work those joints in our body that do not get a good workout by simply walking around. Additionally, you will be able to feel both physically and mentally fresh when you exercise in the morning, even if it is just for a few minutes!

5. Feed Your Body

Now, we all know that it is nearly impossible to prepare a good breakfast while we race against time to get up and get ready to leave; therefore, it is important to choose foods that are easy to eat and contain high amounts of energy. Fruits such as bananas are a great choice since they are easy to carry and release instant energy once consumed (2). Alternatively, you can prepare a hearty breakfast the night before to save you some time in the morning.

6. Gain Some Knowledge

Make some time in your morning routine to read the newspaper or a few pages of a book. Our mind tends to be really calm in the morning; hence, use this as an opportunity to enrich it with wise thoughts before it becomes occupied with other tasks that the new day has to offer. You should always try to wake up and be a little wiser than what you were the day before!

7. Plan Your Day

Writing down a list of tasks that you need to achieve throughout the day, and sticking to that plan, is a great way to accomplish as much as possible each day. Furthermore, you may feel that you gain more energy and motivation each time you strike out completed tasks from this list.

8. Be Grateful

If you choose to start out each day by counting your blessings and thanking everyone that has helped you be at the stage you are at today, you will be able to block out negative thoughts as well as feel more focused with the purposes you have in your life. Starting out your day on this note will ensure that your day goes well no matter what life throws your way.

9. Smile

A smile may not take a lot of effort to produce, but it causes your brain to release ‘oxytocin,’ a chemical that is also known as the ‘happy hormone’ (3). Hence, a smile can help you feel more happy and optimistic, which is the perfect way to start off your day!

We hope that you can make use of these tips in order to beat the morning blues and feel more energized as you start off each day. Please make sure that you share this article with friends and family to help them start off their days the right way too!
