Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma: Here’s Everything About Their Secret Destination Wedding!

India’s favorite A-lister couple has finally tied the knot! That’s right folks, Bollywood’s chirpy sweetheart, the gorgeous Anushka Sharma has finally married her longtime boyfriend, the suave Indian cricket team captain, Virat Kohli, in Italy, yesterday. And boy oh boy, did these two lovebirds keep the press on their toes by keeping the date of their big day so very hush-hush. But, oh well, can anybody truly be irked with this stunning couple for wanting to keep their special day to themselves? Especially when they’ve finally given us a peek into their big day! The Internet is flooded with pictures and videos of the couple’s fairytale wedding in Tuscany, Italy and we’re here to make sure you don’t miss out any of the magic.
On Monday evening, the 11th of December, once Virat and Anushka had finally taken their vows to love and cherish each other forever, the two celebrities broke the news to their beloved fans through their respective social media accounts.
The couple posted the identical message on their Twitter and Instagram accounts (talk about starting one’s new life as a team!) and let us warn you – you are so going to “aww” once you read this. Trust us, we sure did.
“Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well-wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”
The newlyweds had several spectacular pre-wedding functions, including their mehendi ceremony, which was followed by their wedding in Tuscany, Italy at the second most expensive wedding venue in the world, Borgo Finocchieto.
The wedding comprised of a traditional Hindu ceremony, which was only attended by the bride and grooms’ closest friends and family. In fact, so private and hush-hush was their union that none of the couple’s long list of celebrity friends were invited.
Virat & Anushka only posted pictures of their wedding ceremony through their Instagram and Twitter accounts. However, there are several video clips and pictures of their engagement, jaymala, mehendi, and other prerequisite Indian functions, that have been posted and sourced by fan clubs. Instant Bollywood was able to post actual footage of the beautiful Anushka Sharma’s bridal entry, the later exchange of the wedding garlands aka. the jaymala, and also Kohli’s haldi ceremony.
Doesn’t she look breathtakingly lovely? The 29-year old actress wore a wedding ensemble specially designed by India’s leading fashion designer and bridal couture extraordinaire, Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Here is a brief video clip from her handsome Punjabi beau, Virat Kohli’s haldi ceremony in Tuscany, Italy. Donned in a simple traditional yellow kurta and white pajamas, the 29-year-old cricketer can be seen sitting sheepishly as friends and family members smear haldi on his face.
Here’s another darling click from the couple’s mehendi ceremony. Anushka, decked in a modern Indo-Western fusion lehenga set of an electric blue blouse with fetching pink and peach blossoms, can be seen beaming as she displays her hands, tattooed with bridal henna, to the camera. Kohli sits alongside her, in a similar pose, with a wonderfully bemused expression as he too flashes his (albeit, sparsely) henna-ed hands.
Here’s a little snippet of a clip from the couple’s actual wedding ceremony in Tuscany. You can see Virat & Anushka seated on a mauve mandap. The couple is surrounded by giant, ethereal mauve and peach blossoms that truly weave a fairytale-esque ambiance to their wedding day.
The couple also conducted their engagement ceremony whilst in Tuscany, Italy. You can see Anushka dressed regally in a burgundy velvet saree, gazing towards the camera in her full Bollywood leading lady avatar. Meanwhile, Virat, decked in a dashing blue tux, gazes at her, absolutely smitten!
We’ve heard through the grapevine that the festivities don’t just end here. Two receptions will be held for the newly wedded couple – the first one will be conducted at Delhi, Virat’s hometown and the second one in Mumbai. The couple is said to settle in Mumbai, where they will reside in an apartment in Worli.
Once the second reception is celebrated in Mumbai, on December 26th, Virat and Anushka are said to fly to South Africa in 2018. Kohli is said to play a series in South Africa and will stay back there, while Anushka will return to resume filming alongside fellow actors Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, for their yet to be titled movie directed by Anand L Rai.
