What Does Your Body Shape Say About You?

It is a very well-known fact that a person’s body shape, height, and other physical characteristics are a work of their genetic makeup. These attributes are also dependent on the amount of physical exercise and nutrition one invests in their body. It has been observed and even experienced, that our body tends to achieve equilibrium at a certain shape and weight (but let us not make that an excuse to skip workout or binge on unhealthy foods). Most women have been found to have one of the six body types, i.e., banana-shaped, rectangular-shaped, apple-shaped, pear-shaped, cone-shaped or the hourglass-shaped body.

Fashion magazines have churned many articles that talk about how one should dress as per their body type. It is also easy to decipher the bouquets and brickbats that tag along with a certain body type. But did you know that your body type can also reflect your personality? Read on to know more on this!

1. Slender Or Banana-Shaped Body

If you are on the slender side, it would be interesting to know the pros and cons of your personality based on how athletic or tall you are. For instance, people who are just thin are found to be more on the introvert side as compared to those who are blessed with rounder bodies. Additionally, thinner and slender people are a lot more organized and disciplined.

However, they are often misunderstood as being selfish and bossy. This could either be because they want everyone around them to be happy or perhaps they aren’t as expressive as people of other body types. The low-on-sensitivity attribute could also be because they’ve never had to deal with the stuggle of extra flab.

If you are of the statuesque figure, you are most likely to be high on energy and have a thing for physical exercise. It is quite possible that you are a caring and creative person. You are more likely to be viewed as an elegant and intense personality rather than a pompous one.

However, a word of caution for the ones having a tall and slender body – do not underestimate your self-worth! Despite your good looks and healthy appearance, you tend to be low on self-worth and settle for less when you could gain a lot more.

2. Rectangular Or Ruler-Shaped Body

The rectangular shape body is usually devoid of curves and has been found to be the most common of all body types. Being not curvy in a world that worships the hourglass figure isn’t easy and, hence, rectangular or ruler-shaped women often tend to be envious.

They often possess a traditional mindset and tend to find a partner who shares the same values. Since this body shape is more common amongst both the sexes, there are a lot more options to choose when in the dating phase.

3. Round Or Apple-Shaped Body

It is no secret that round body types love indulging more in food than anything else. Having a round body type is also genetic, but lack of exercise and an improper diet also makes one round. It is also very easy to deduce that such people are more prone to diabetes and other cardiovascular issues, unless, of course, they sweat it out regularly at the gym.

On the brighter side, people with round body types are friendly, fun-loving, and extremely social animals. They are high in confidence and tend to seek equally, if not more, confident partners.

4. Spoon Or Pear-Shaped Body

If you are a pear type, it is quite likely that you may not be very happy with the shape of your body. But let me tell you that the pear shape signifies a fun-loving, adventurous, and extrovert persona. You tend to be flocked by friends and family and are the life and soul of every party you step into!

People with a spoon or pear-shaped body attract considerable attention and are often dubbed as flirtatious in nature, although they are just being themselves. Such people are confident, creative, and unbothered by other people’s opinions about them – they are truly a carefree lot!

On the flip side, such women are more likely to suffer from health conditions that are pertaining to the female anatomy such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and PCOD, to name a few.

5. Cone-Shaped Body

Such a body type is also referred to as the inverted triangle. The upper body is much broader than the lower one, hence making this a rarely seen body type. The good part about belonging to this body type is that you don’t tend to show a lot of weight, despite bingeing more often than your friends. This makes you very enviable.

On the flip side, such people are more likely to be much different in private as compared to their public personas. Albeit not as boisterous as their pear-shaped counterparts, such people are most likely to stand up first and accept a dare.

6. Hourglass-Shaped Body

This body type is rare, and one ends up only dreaming of achieving this ‘perfect’ silhouette. However, it would be interesting to know that people with such a proportionate body type tend to be low on self-esteem and often worry more about how people perceive them.

Belonging to the perfect body type makes these individuals perfectionists. Thus, they face a tough time looking for the ‘right’ one. Ordinarily, in a relationship, they often need assurance, which sometimes makes the romance fly out of the window.

No matter what our body shape is, we must all remember that each of us is unique and beautiful. Hence, make sure you don’t indulge in body-shaming – others or even yourself! After all, I am sure there is someone who is, to quote Ed Sheeran, “in love with the shape of you.”
