Just When You Thought You Were Over ‘Queen’, Kangana Shines Again As Simran – Her All New Avatar Is Too Cute To Handle!
The Queen of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut, is back, this time in a quirky avatar. The leggy lass who impressed one and all with her stunning performance in movies like Gangster, Fashion, Queen, and Tanu Weds Manu is all set to be seen in another woman-centric role.
Titled Simran, the film is directed by Hansal Mehta of Shahid fame and produced by T-Series honcho Bhushan Kumar. Take a look at this teaser from Kangana’s upcoming movie, and we’ll tell you why we loved this video so much.
Howzzat! Yes, that was my impression of the teaser. We know Kangana can effortlessly pull off any role and she has proved us right this time around as well. Based on a real life crime story, the film features the actress in the role of a divorcee. Her previous movie Rangoon, which had raised expectations with its trailer, was a box office dud. But one look at this teaser, and it’s easy to see why this will be her best comeback post blockbuster hits like Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
In Queen, she’s the bride who goes off on a honeymoon all by herself. And it looks like Simran too is treading the same line, except that she’s playing an older woman here. Kangana looks so carefree in this video that we can’t help admire her mischievous looks. Playing a Gujarati NRI, Kangana looks full of life, and we are not complaining at all!
The teaser is eclectic, clearly showing the different moods of Kangana in the film. However, it doesn’t reveal much about the plot. The powerhouse of talent that Kangana is, she can be seen in a comic avatar here. What made me sit up and take notice were her funny antics. The teaser is sans any dialogue, but it gives away the fact that the movie will be light-hearted and highly emotional at the same time, just like Kangana’s earlier film Queen, where she went on to sweep all the awards for her performance.
Besides the lively music in the background, we can’t help but notice the many different hats that Kangana dons in the film. While she’s seen sporting a cowboy hat at one point, in another scene, the actress is seen as a blonde.
Simran has been extensively shot in the US. If the rumors surrounding the movie in the Mumbai film circles are anything to go by, Simran is based on true events from the life of Sandeep Kaur (Bombshell Bandit). He was arrested in connection with bank heists in the US.
Reports are that Kangana’s character will have shades of gray in this film as the movie progresses. Talking about her character in the film, this is what Kangana said in an interview: “Simran is such a cozy and intimate story of a character. It’s a lot about her psyche, just like Queen…it’s a lot about the linear graph of an individual…you can involve yourself in that.”
If you still didn’t know, Kangana is soon venturing into direction after this movie. By the way, she also gets writing credit for Simran. Kangana looks sprightly in every frame of this teaser, and we know whatever her character is in the film, she will rock it and carry it on her shoulders without any hitch. Now that we have seen the teaser, it gives out a Queen-like vibe, and we can’t wait for it to hit the screens.
