Red eyes appear in photographs only when they are clicked in dim light or in the dark. In dim light, our pupils get enlarged, and more light enters our eyes. When the flashlight of the camera enters the eyes, the pupils do not get enough time to adapt to it and constrict. The light that enters our eyes reflects the red blood vessels of the choroid (connective tissue that is at the back of the eye). So, when the bright flash light of the camera lightens up the blood-rich retina, it results in a red eye effect.

How Can You Prevent Red Eyes In Photos?

There are a few ways to prevent the appearance of red eyes in the photos. Some of them are listed below.

1. Avoid Looking Directly At The Camera.

By doing this, your eyes won’t catch the flashlight at a direct angle, and this will help in reducing the red eyes effect in the pictures.

2. Try To Make The Location Brighter By Turning On As Many Lights As Possible.

The darker the environment, the greater are the chances for red eyes. Thus, turning on more lights can help prevent red eyes in the pictures.

The easiest way to avoid the red eye effect is to look at a tubelight just before clicking the picture. Though the latest cameras come with red-eye reduction features, you can always use image editing tools to get rid of vampire eyes from your photographs.
