5 Worst Bollywood Fashion Moments Of 2017

If you believe your life is arduous, let us remind you then that it could be worse. After all, being in the public eye with your every move, every word, and every outfit scrutinized and dissected by the unforgiving general public is a lot more aggravating. Sure, being in the limelight comes with several undeniable perks. However, when you happen to be part of the rich and famous, everybody suddenly becomes a critic. And your life? Their unrelenting review.
Now, you could be criticized for not experimenting with your wardrobe. But, at the same time, you could be ridiculed for your more adventurous sartorial picks as well – nobody said it was easy! Haute couture exists on a very fine line between acceptable and bizarre. And as unfair as it may sound, our beloved stars are somehow expected to comprehend the difference and put their best foot forward every time. Which shouldn’t come as surprise at all considering that they’re not simply a name, but an actual brand worth millions.
So, while we saw truly memorable ensembles last year, there were also several disappointing turnouts. Read on to discover our picks for the worst 2017 fashion moments in tinsel town!
1. Shraddha Kapoor
We love this doe-eyed Aashiqui 2 actress, but this ensemble? Not so much. Kapoor is seen donning a one-shouldered, hot pink, balloon-sleeved top with well-fitted trousers in a matching color from the designer, Atsu Sekhouse. Given her overwhelmingly bright outfit, Kapoor could have been minimal in her accessories; however, she opted to pair the outfit with blue and pink Valliyan statement earrings instead.
Her matching hot pink stilettos combined with those earrings was by no means a respite from the suffocating color-attack we’re suffering. Furthermore, the solitary balloon sleeve couldn’t be pulled off by her petite frame at all. Sorry Shraddha, but this one was a disappointing miss for us!
2. Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena Kapoor Khan, or ‘Bebo’ as she is affectionately called by her family and the press, is an undeniable, bona fide Bollywood diva – and we love it! But in 2017, Bebo was seen attending a book launch for celebrity nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar, in a bizarrely clashing outfit from Missioni that couldn’t help but make us wince. The Jab We Met actress wore a chevron print top that was paired alongside a starkly different patterned skirt, and the overall effect was less than impressive. In fact, we’re stumped as to how she ever gave the green light to this ensemble as it’s such an evident fashion disaster!
3. Deepika Padukone
The Internet infamously went had a lot to say when Deepika Padukone wore this piece to the Lux Golden Rose Awards in 2017 – and none of it was good. With her mile-long legs, striking dimples, and humanly-defying symmetrical bone structure, Padukone is hailed as one of the greatest beauties of the silver screen, something we wouldn’t dream of contesting! However, though this Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress can pull off the most daring of outfits with her statuesque beauty, this thigh-high slit, deep-plunging, golden gown from Monisha Jaising didn’t make that cut.
In fact, people trolled her stylist, Shaleena Nathani, in the droves for dressing Padukone from head-to-toe in gold ‘gift wrapping paper.’ And for once in our lives, we actually happen to agree with the Internet.
4. Anushka Sharma
When we happened to stumble across this particular picture of the Band Baaja Baaraat actress on her Instagram, suffice to say, we were more than a little disappointed. Sharma is seen outfitted in a pair of severely distressed, stonewashed denims that have crossed the realm of ‘ironic’ and brassily entered the plane of tasteless. It was celebrity stylist, Allia Al Rufai who engineered this look, styling Sharma in a nondescript blue shirt from Urban Outfitters and that outlandish pair of jeans from Asos. Tsk tsk, Al Rufai, we expected better. Even those to-die-for Givenchy heels couldn’t redeem this lost cause of an outfit.
5. Sridevi
While gracing an Ambani event, Sridevi turned out in this denim dress that had us cringing, painfully. Yes, as a fabric, denim has an eternal standing in the halls of fashion, and it’s rather difficult to actually mess up a look incorporating denim. However, if there ever was a textbook image for denim fashion having disastrously gone wrong, this would incontestably be it.
The English Vinglish actress can be seen clad in a head-to-toe denim ensemble designed by Alberta Ferretti, and the outfit was shockingly unflattering on her beautiful figure. The bulky, bizarre jacket was too voluminous, and the metallic detailing only served to highlight its flaws. Once paired with the narrow, unfashionably long, A-line denim skirt, the outfit looked even more odd (if possible). This was equivalent to a plane crash for us, that’s how much of a fashion disaster we deem it!
