Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick Review

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks are sure to be your new signature lip color: they’re sensual, radiant, and strong. With a range of shades that drench your lips with densely pigmented color and a unique color-shine complex, lips are visibly smoothed, plumped, and radiant with luminous color.

Features And Benefits

  • Intense long lasting color
  • Up to 8 hours wear-time
  • Smooth and creamy texture
  • +25% color impact
  • Gives you comfortable wear all day long
  • Captures the flair, edge, and timelessness for a unique look

Packaging

The Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick comes in a dark burgundy case. Rimmel’s logo, which is a royal crown, is printed on the top of the case, and a sticker with details of the shade and its shade number is printed on the bottom of the case. It has a silver ring in the center with ‘Rimmel’ engraved on it. Overall, the packaging looks quite mediocre, and its plastic makes it feel cheap to hold.

My Experience With Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick

I stumbled across the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick online and looked at its rave reviews and I wanted to try a few shades. I bought it in the shades ‘Unclothed’ and ‘Jet Set Red.’ Here’s my experience with this lipstick.

Texture & Fragrance

The Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick has a creamy texture, and it feels very hydrating on the lips. It’s easy to apply and has a buttery smooth consistency that glides on the lips without tugging or pulling. Even after some time of application, it does not feel dry on my lips, neither does it dry out my lips.
Coming to the fragrance, it has a strange floral smell that fades after a while of application. However, if you are sensitive to smells, this might bother you.

Staying Power

This aspect was a big disappointment to me as its formula tends to transfer so easily and it fades just as easily. You can use a little bit of foundation or concealer and a lip liner before going in with the actual lipstick, but that’s a lot of effort without which I can say it’s staying power is terrible.

Pigmentation And Efficacy

The pigmentation of this lipstick formula is fantastic. One swipe gives you a fully opaque finish. But here’s the catch, it spreads and feathers way too much. It also transfers so very easily that I ended up with lipstick on my chin and teeth. What a disaster, right? It can’t survive a meal or even a drink. Even if you accidentally end up brushing your hand against your lips, you will end up ruining your lipstick.

On the whole, this lipstick is great in terms of its color payoff and pigmentation but is horrid when you consider factors like its longevity.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick Shades

Here’s a roundup of the shades the Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick range has to offer. Let’s take a quick look at how each one looks and performs.

002 Candy

The shade Candy is a light Barbie pink color with shimmer that would go well with paler skin. However, I have to say that this is a very pale and frosty shade and can make you look sick and washed out (beware: medium and dark skin tones, not a good option for you).

006 Pink Blush

This is a light-medium pink with a lilac/lavender undertone to it. If you’re into light pinks, you might like this shade. It’s suitable for fair to medium skin tones. Also, this makes for a good daily wear color.

128 Starry Eyed

038 In Vogue

In Vogue is a bright fuchsia pink-red that instantly brightens up your face. This one would look perfect on fair to medium skin tones.

050 Paradise

The shade Paradise is nude with a hint of lavender. It looks stunning on fair to medium skin tones.

066 Heather Shimmer

Heather Shimmer is a shimmery bronze pink-plum shade. You need two swipes to get an opaque finish. This looks pretty with a daytime purple smokey eye and on fair to medium skin tones.

206 Nude Pink

014 Finish by Kate Moss

This is a soothing color suitable for day-outs, brunches, and most summer. It’s a subtle color between peach and nude pink. This 8-hour color is a mesmerizing shade that is suitable for all skin tones.

124 Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a burgundy/plum shade, and it looks great on all skin tones. This color is a great option for evening wear.

170 Alarm

This shade offers excellent color payoff. It’s a true red that goes well with any skin tone.

500 Red-Y

The shade Red-Y is a great wine-red color, and its color payoff is very impressive. If you’re into darker shades, this is a must-try! Also, it goes well with every skin tone.

700 Unclothed

Fan of neutral, earthy shades? This nude shade is meant for fair skin tones for that bang-on no-makeup makeup look!

800 Berry Mischief

This is a deep plum/berry shade that is perfect for evening wear. It complements all skin tones beautifully and will instantly up your elegance factor.

How To Use Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick?

  1. Conceal your lips completely using Lasting Finish 25-hour foundation or your regular foundation.
  2. Using a lip liner in a shade that’s a tad darker than your lip color, overdraw the lip line slightly over the cupid’s bow and below the center of your bottom lip to create the illusion of fuller lips.
  3. Apply your Lasting Finish lipstick all over your lips, as well as on top of the lip liner.

Shelf Life: 30 months

Will I Recommend This Product?

No, I do not recommend buying this product because it’s just too much work to keep reapplying your lipstick throughout the day. Yes, it’s an affordable product from a reputed drugstore brand, and that’s perhaps the only good thing about this lipstick, but when I put the quality of its formula into consideration, I can’t help but say that it’s awful.

Your lipstick is not supposed to wear off with one sip of wine on your night out. It must be reliable and long-wearing, especially when it’s called “Lasting Finish.” That was my review of the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick. Have you ever tried this product?
