10 Laws Of Karma That Will Elevate Your Thoughts

Written by Chandrama Deshmukh  •

I’m a true believer in karma. You get what you give, whether it’s bad or good.

– Sandra Bullock

Famous Hollywood actor, Sandra Bullock, has framed it just right. Karma indeed relies on the principle of what goes around comes around. It is a cycle of your actions that can determine your fate in your future existences. This is the reason your parents taught you since your childhood to watch your words, your actions, your thoughts, and your intentions. If you’re not convinced yet, here are 10 laws of karma that will make you a believer and radically change your thought process.

1. The Law Of Cause And Effect

This law has been perfectly summed in the famous saying ‘as you sow, so shall you reap.’ This means that if you wish ill for someone, the same thing will happen to you as well. But, on the other hand, if you wish that another person gets peace, prosperity, and harmony in his/her life, you will receive the same. This is one of the greatest laws of karma and one of its most powerful ones as well.

2. The Law Of Creation

The law of creation centers around the fact that life is something that does not just happen to you; it demands your active participation for it to move forward. Never forget that you and the Universe are made up of the same elements. So, what you think is what helps shape the world around you. You are in charge of your life and the people in it.

3. The Law Of Humility

Humility lies in the acceptance of your circumstances, whether they are good or bad. You need to welcome whatever tomorrow might bring your way with open arms. If you feel your circumstances are not favorable, you must work towards changing them and continue believing that things happen for a reason.

4. The Law Of Growth

Stagnancy is bad for the soul. Instead of dwelling on your past, you should move forward and embrace the process of growth and evolution. In this regard, you should know that the reins of your life are in your hands and you can steer it anyway you want to. You can lead the life you want and be the person you want.

5. The Law Of Responsibility

You and only you can be held accountable for your actions, your words, and your thoughts. There’s no point in playing the blame game. All your failures and successes are, in essence, your own doing. You have the power to change your life, but that will require altering your thought process and your environment as well.

6. The Law Of Connection

As mentioned before, you and the Universe are composed of the same elements. This means everything in this universe, big or small, animate or inanimate, is interconnected and capable of influencing the others. Therefore, if you truly wish to witness a change in your world, in your life, in your situation, you must become the change.

7. The Law Of Focus

No matter what you do, even if it’s as simple as drinking a glass of water, you must direct all of your attention to the task at hand. A mind that is only half concentrating on what it is supposed to do is full of negative thoughts and hence, unable to realize its full potential. You must uproot the negative thoughts from your mind that hold you back, and fill it with positive ones so that you can achieve what you desire.

8. The Law Of Hospitality And Giving

When you have space in your heart, the space in your home becomes inconsequential. You should always be kind, courteous, and welcoming, giving more than you expect to receive. In order to truly become selfless, you must become a spitting image of the kind of person you believe you are. Not only will you achieve spiritual growth, but you will also learn to enjoy the small joys of life.

9. The Law Of Change

Nothing is ever constant, whether it’s happiness or sorrow, rain or shine. Everything goes through a cyclical change, starting all over again once it’s over. If the same things keep happening to you, again and again, it’s because you haven’t been able to learn the lesson life is trying to teach you. Only the comprehension of that lesson can help you break free of the circle of repetition.

10. The Law Of Here And Now

The past is inconsequential, and so is the future. All that matters is the right here and right now, and you must live your life to the fullest if you are in pursuit of ultimate happiness. Beautiful tomorrows and beautiful memories can be yours if you strive to make your present beautiful.

Following the above laws with a clean mind and pure heart can improve your life for the better.
