I was always against the concept of stick foundations. I am a fan of liquids and the coverage they provide. I was still under the impression that stick foundations do not provide any coverage and are hard to blend and might end up looking weird. But, I was so wrong.
A friend of mine forced me to try it on, and it changed my opinion. This Clinique Chubby In The Nude Foundation Stick is serious business. First, the packaging is so travel-friendly. It fits in my pocket too. Then, the formula is creamy and yet doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. It blends like butter. I apply a few strokes of this stick on my face, blend with my finger, and I am done. It takes me 30 seconds to get ready.
Moreover, this foundation has a very powdery finish, despite being creamy. So, I do not need a setting powder. It does not transfer and stays on for about 6 to 7 hours. Touching up is also pretty easy. This is perfect for anyone looking for a quick makeup fix in the morning.
A few downsides to this product are using a liquid concealer with this is a pain. It ends up getting cakey and patchy. And, using a heavy moisturizer under the foundation is a must. Or else, it tends to dry out and settle in fine lines. Nonetheless, I love it, and you should like it too.
Does not need setting powder
Needs to be worn over a moisturizer
Difficult to blend with other liquid products
I love lipsticks, and I love trying different types of them. And every time a new range of lipsticks is introduced, I have to get them home, try them, and see if they are as good as they claim to be. Nykaa launched the So Matte Collection, and without any delay, I ordered three shades to try – Totes Natural, Cinnamon Crunch, and Pink Brat.
These lipsticks come in tiny black packaging with a magnetic cap. The packaging is cute and travel-friendly and great for the price you pay. However, there is no demarcation of the color on the lipstick. If you own more than one color from this range, you will have to read the shade name at the bottom every time you want to find out which color it is.
Talking about the texture, feel, and pigmentation, I am completely satisfied with this range. It’s a creamy soft-matte formula that does not dry out your lips. It keeps them moisturized. Also, it does not accentuate fine lines or settle in patches. It’s just so perfect! The only thing I do not like about applying lipsticks is retouching, and that is one thing you cannot avoid with this Nykaa So Matte Lipstick. It wears off too soon. The lipstick cannot stand light snacking also. It’s such a turn-off. But, unlike liquid lipsticks, it's not tricky to reapply these lipsticks.
These tiny, affordable lipsticks are great when you have to step out for a few hours, with light makeup on. There is a never-ending range of shades to choose from and its not heavy on the pocket. I love these lipsticks.
Soft, creamy formula
Doesn’t accentuate dryness on lips
Extensive range of shades
Does not last long
No color demarcation on the packaging
My skin is very dry and gets flaky and patchy around my mouth area. If I forget to moisturize, the scene is horrific. Last winter, I bought Biotique Wheat Germ Youthful Nourishing Night Cream.
The night cream is packaged in a white plastic tub with a green screw cap. I have never been a fan of tub packaging, the reason being it is unhygienic. So, what I do is, I make sure that my hands are washed and clean before I scoop it out of the tub.
The texture of the cream is very thick and creamy. Because of its thickness, it does not blend easily. So, I need to scrub it several times for the cream to get soaked in and blended.
Its fragrance is mild, which lingers for quite some time. I used to apply this Biotique night cream every night before going to sleep during winter. After applying, my skin feels fully nourished, and the dullness is far gone. In the morning, I wake up with soft, supple and glowing skin. It is very hydrating as well.
That tub lasted me two months. And over those months, my skin really felt healthy and supple. It made my winter easy to manage. However, I will not be using it for the summer season because even though I have dry skin, I sense that it will be greasy during summer. So I’ll go for a much lighter night cream.
I will suggest this night cream only to those who have dry skin. It works great and promotes healthy skin.
A little goes a long way
Makes the skin soft and supple
Hydrates and nourishes dry skin
Takes effort to blend
When I came across VLCC Hair Fall Repair Oil at the drugstore, I thought it would be perfect for my hair fall and the health of my hair.
This hair oil comes in a tall transparent plastic bottle with an open flip cap. The packaging is nicely put together, but I will never carry it around. The smell is thankfully unlike other herbal hair oils that smell awful. This one smells mild and not herbal.
Keeping my hair fall in mind, I purchased VLCC Hair Fall Repair Oil. It has been three weeks now, and honestly, I see no changes. Instead of controlling my hair fall, I see more strands of hair on my fingers while applying it.
I thought it is just my hair, but even after these weeks of use, I see such a difference. I am still using it hoping it will surprise me with positive results soon. Other than that, post-wash, my hair feels very soft and silky. But that is all. Not an effective hair oil. I wouldn’t be repurchasing it.
Makes the hair soft and silky
Mild, pleasant fragrance
Does not control hair fall
There is nothing quite like the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau De Toilette. Its scent is so alluring. I wear it to work, events, and basically everywhere. It is my staple perfume, and I really can’t do without it now. It is sweet and fresh and does not invade my senses.
I’ve tried out other Dolce and Gabbana perfumes, but nothing tops this one. I love its basic packaging style - it doesn’t look super fancy, but it holds one of the most sophisticated fragrances I’ve ever come across.
Two sprays work perfectly for me. It initially emanates a musky, almost masculine smell. But as it settles on to my skin and mixes with my natural body odor, I get a whiff of its pleasantly sweet smell. I don’t plan to stop using this perfume anytime soon. I’m completely in love with it.
Value for money
Not overpowering scent
Sweet and pleasant fragrance
Fades away after a few hours
We are all aware that this sunscreen comes in two types of packaging, i.e. face cream and body cream. The body cream comes in a bigger tube. What I do is, I buy the body cream instead of face cream and use it for my face. That way, I don’t have to use it sparingly, and I save my money effectively. They both have the same ingredients and same formulation.
It is a relatively expensive sunscreen, but the effectiveness explains it. I have been using it for almost two years now. This sunscreen has high antioxidants which are not irritating to the skin. Compared to others I have used, this sunscreen does not leave any filter layer. Even though it is thick, it glides on my combination skin smoothly without leaving any residue.
Till date, I have not experienced any problem with it. I highly recommend it.
Does not irritate the skin
Does not cause pimples
Effective protection from UVA and UVB rays
Does not leave any residue
I just finished a bottle of this shampoo after using it daily. It worked well for me and did not weigh my hair down. I have dry hair and scalp. It is color-treated and tends to get frizzy. Having said that, Matrix Biolage Smoothproof Shampoo is not a great shampoo that I'll buy again. The ingredient list is rather confusing. It contains sodium laureth sulfate which strips hair of several essential oils and moisturizing agents. It contains non-water-soluble silicone which can weigh hair down and silicone is not good for the hair, especially if too much is used.
Thank goodness, I only need a small amount to wash my hair because the price is on the higher side.
When I said the ingredient list is confusing, I meant it contains acidic ingredients which are salicylic acid, citric acid, and other basic ingredients. So the acids listed decrease pH value and the bases listed increase pH value. It is just a complex formulation, and I am not ready to risk the unknown. One bottle was enough, and I won’t be repurchasing it.
Confusing list of ingredients
My friends always say that I’m a very good shopper.
Do you know why?
Because whatever I buy has a reason for it, and I choose only quality products. With that said, I live out of my budget all the time! (sigh!)
M.A.C Studio Moisture Cream is one of the quality products I purchased last month. I own a good number of M.A.C lipsticks, which I love, so buying this moisturizer wasn’t a blind shot. I knew the quality.
Did it work?
Well, quite decently. I use it every night, and the next day when I wake up, my skin feels intensely treated. I don’t use it during the day because it does not offer sun protection. And as my skin is combination and sensitive, I need to be careful.
The moisturizer comes in a very smart packing which is a tub. Usually, I will have problems with the tub packing but I understand where this is coming from. The moisturizer is very rich and creamy, so if it was to be packaged in a tube or a pump dispenser, there will be a problem of getting it out. So that way, I accept it.
Overall, M.A.C Studio Moisture Cream is a lovely deep moisturizing cream. Thick and creamy. It's really soft and nourishing and smells lovely. A little expensive but a good quantity is provided. It is a good investment for your skin.
Tightens the pores
Does not cause pimples
Mild and subtle fragrance
No sun protection
It has just been two weeks since I started using this illuminating moisturizer and I’m telling you guys, this is one of the best. It not only moisturizes my dry skin but also adds life to my dull skin. I go all out with it. I use it all over my face as a moisturizer with a little bit of sunscreen. It does not clog my pores nor does it give me any skin problems. I am using the shade Golden Glow and my face looks healthy and naturally radiant. I am so happy with this purchase.
Does not clog pores
Revives your skin
Does not cause any skin problems
My skin was suffering from major sunburn; it was so severe that my skin started peeling off. Around my cheeks, I got red rashes, almost like acne. It was a very horrible experience. When I went to a dermatologist, he said that my skin is dehydrated and needs moisture. So he recommended me this Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator.
Soon after, I started applying it, and now, it has been five weeks. This cream came as a blessing. It is so mild, and the texture is so light. It gives me the right hydration and moisture. It has also reduced the redness around my cheeks, and my skin stopped peeling off.
The only thing I don’t really like about this product is the packaging. I never liked the tub packaging. And now that I’ve realized how sensitive my skin is, I am not willing to risk anything. So instead of my finger, I use a spatula.
I’m having such a great experience with Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator. So yes, I will be repurchasing it and recommending it as well. Go for it!
