Doesn’t crease or transfer
Does not conceal
I am happy to have come across this product. I have a day job and a very hectic schedule, and I do not layer my face with a lot of products. I was looking for a product that will do the work of both a foundation and a powder, along with making my skin appear radiant. And Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation + Concealer does the same.
I wear this powder foundation every day to work, and I love how it makes my skin look and feel. The powder comes with this applicator that is spongy on one side and velvety on the other. I mostly use the spongy sides, and it provides medium coverage. I do not have a lot of blemishes or under eye dark circles. This powder perfectly evens out my skin tone.
It stays intact for a good 7 hours and doesn’t need to be reapplied. It does not smudge, transfer, crease, or cake, even when I’m sweating. The only downside is it does not conceal very well. Once in a while, when I have zits or dark spots showing up, I use a separate concealer to cover them up.
Overall, this is an excellent product for everyday office wear. It makes my skin appear clean, healthy, and flawless without many efforts. And it also feels light on the skin.
Matches skin tone
Accentuates fine lines
Creamy and greasy
I like products that are tiny, 2-in1 types, which can be easily carried around while traveling. The reason I bought Maybelline New York Master Camo Color Correcting Kit was also this that it is tiny, has concealer, color corrector, and highlighter all-in-one and is travel-friendly. The colors looked pretty good, and these were the only two colors I needed for concealing discoloration on my face.
First, this is an entirely cream-based palette, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the palette. I have oily skin, and after I bought it, I knew it wouldn’t work well for my skin. I tried using the green on my under eye dark circles and around the lips on pigmentation. The brush this palette comes with is just a waste of space. I only used it to place the product and then blended using fingers.
Even before I used my concealer on the pigments, it started creasing. I topped it off with concealer and set it up with loose powder. These textures crease like crazy. It highlighted fine lines which I didn’t know existed. Even loose powder didn’t help. I wore it the whole day, at home, and it started transferring to my blotting paper within 3 hours. Also, it felt very heavy and cakey on my face. I do not like this feeling.
This palette might suit people with normal and dry skin better. But for oily skin, this product is a big no!
Easy to blend
Great for combination skin
Doesn’t appear cakey
I have oily, acne-prone skin. And that’s why I have to be very careful before putting anything on my face. Also, I like foundations that appear natural and do not appear cakey. I heard a lot of good reviews about this LA Girl Pro Coverage Illuminating Liquid Foundation and decided to give it a try. Although the word ‘illuminating’ scared me, I was still hopeful.
The first time I used this was in a store to check my shade. The salesgirl applied just a drop of it on the left cheek and blended it using a brush. She was able to cover the complete left side with only one drop, and it blended like a dream. My pores, acne scars, and red bumps disappeared, and the foundation was also not to be seen.
I love how lightweight and watery this is. For my acne-prone skin, I feel this foundation is a perfect match as it does not feel heavy or clog my pores. I use a lot of powder to set this foundation because I do not like the dewy/illuminating finish it offers. I feel it makes my skin appear oily and highlights my tiny whiteheads.
Also, just half a pump is enough for the entire face. The packaging makes it easier to use and also keeps the product hygienic. The only thing I do not like about this is it’s not very long-lasting, and touch-ups are needed. I wear it almost every day but avoid on days when I know I have a hectic schedule. Overall, this is an excellent foundation for my combination skin type, and I would definitely recommend it.
Medium to full coverage
Works as a primer, eyeshadow, and concealer
Does not crease, cake, or get patchy
I never imagined a product could be so good at so many things. MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot was the Holy Grail I was looking for, and now that I have found it, there is no going back. I bought this product a couple of months back, and I wonder why I never gave it a try before. I love products that can be used for more than one purpose - traveling with them becomes easier, and you also save a little money.
I got this eyeshadow in the shade Painterly which is the perfect shade to use as a primer for the entire lid. And this shade also matches my natural skin tone, so I use it as a concealer to cover my dark spots. On days when I don’t want to go heavy on the eyes, Painterly does the perfect job of a stand-alone eyeshadow.
This product from MAC comes in a tiny glass pot, but the quantity is pretty good and a little product goes a long way. The texture of the product is creamy. I take the product on my finger and apply it on my lids. I then blend it with my fingers, spreading it all over. It dries pretty quuickly, so you have very little play time. But, once it’s settled, it doesn't cake or crease for about 10 hours!
Although the formula is creamy, it does not feel heavy on the skin. And therefore, I use it under my eyes to cover the dark circles and the few dark spots I have on my face. This product works well with everything that goes under or over it. There is no difficulty in blending, whatsoever.
It is a must buy for everyone, whatever your skin type is or whether you wear eyeshadows every day or not. It is available in a number of pretty shades, and I am soon going to buy the Frozen Violet shade as well.
Does not transfer or stain
Cannot be used without the balm
Requires frequent touch-ups with the balm
I guess all of us are always on the lookout for a product that is just perfect and does everything we want it to do. One such product I always wanted was a lipstick which never wears off, doesn’t transfer, and I don’t have to reapply it every now and then. Well, Maybelline granted my wish, and made this super amazing product- Maybelline New York Superstay 24 Color 2 Step Lipstick. This is what I was looking for.
The lipstick comes in this smart packaging with the lip color’s bottle being transparent and the balm on the other side. The quantity is good for the price it comes at. I got two shades from this range - Firmly Mauve 245 and Constant Cocoa 145. Both the colors are very pretty and versatile. I mostly wear these colors to work, and I love them.
About the texture, it feels super light on the lips, like a balm, making your lips feel moisturized and soft all day. I reapply the balm a few times to keep the lipstick from getting sticky. Without the balm, the lipstick gets very sticky and starts cracking. Although with the balm, there is no problem at all. It does not transfer, smudge, stain, or wear off. These are pretty amazing lipsticks with excellent shade choices.
Easy to blend
Good combination of mattes and shimmers
Does not cause skin irritation
It was love at first sight! The moment I laid my eyes on Maybelline New York The 24K Nudes Palette, I was dazzled by the shades. The price was even more appealing. I don’t know much about how to use eyeshadows, but I gotta have this one, and so I did. As I started using it, my opinion started changing too.
The palette comes in a dull-golden case with a see-through center on the lid. The packaging is very sturdy and travel-friendly. The palette comes with an applicator which is not functional at all. I tried using it once, and it was an epic fail. I still keep it in the case for “just in case” situations.
Coming to its texture and pigmentation, well, the matte shades are very powdery and do not have enough pigmentation. It also does not cling on the lids properly. However, the shimmery shades work decently. Their pigmentations are beautiful and they adhere on the lids quite well. The only problem with the shimmers is that they fall out.
I tried following the instructions with the Quads, Trios, and Duos but I can barely work it out being a newbie. And also since the pigmentations are unevenly distributed, they do not work wonderfully. But when I use them with a primer, it does the trick. So, I always use a primer.
For me, the gold shade stands out. It is very pigmented and looks like a high-end shade. I use it the most often. However, my hype for this palette has sobered down drastically from the first day I started using it. I am not saying I hate it, but there is nothing special about it. Maybelline New York The 24K Nudes Palette is just an average eyeshadow palette for me.
Easy to blend
Functional and travel-friendly packaging
Color last for 8 hours
Does not smudge or fall out
Does not transfer
Does not fade easily
When I got Colorbar All Day Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick as a gift, I was literally surprised to know it is an eyeshadow. I didn’t know how to use it so I went online and checked out some tutorials and I was quite excited about it.
This eyeshadow comes in an eye-liner pencil but slightly thicker. It is black and the body is made out of plastic. The base has a detachable sharpener which is very cool for me. The pencil is a twist-up and it twists back like a lipstick. Overall, I like the packaging. But then, the quantity is very less.
The texture of this eyeshadow is creamy and highly pigmented. The creamy texture makes it easy to blend. I just use my finger tip to blend. And once it sets, the color remains radiant for up to 8 hours without streaking or smudging. It does not crease or fall out and also does not transfer.
I have to remove it with an oil-based makeup remover to completely get it off. Which is great! To be a person to use such eyeshadow stick for the first time, I am having a really good experience with it.
Suitable for all hair types
Not a long-term solution
Three months back, I straightened my hair, and it looked and felt really good. But it started feeling rough after a few months. So, on the advice of my hair stylist, I got this L'Oreal Professionnel X-Tenso Care Serum.
It comes in a cute see-through glass bottle with a plastic dispenser attached to it. The dispenser does not have a cap, so with a glass body and no cap for the dispenser, it is a huge risk to carry it around. As long as the bottle stays at home, it is functional.
The consistency of the serum is runny but not entirely like water. I am glad it is a light textured serum because my hair tends to get oily quickly. It has a very beautiful floral fragrance.
I use this serum after washing my hair when it is 90% dry. I apply it on the crown-length-tip of my hair, then leave it for 5 minutes and brush it. After doing so, I have noticed less hair fall. And to add to it, the texture of my hair also feels soft and smooth. The final look this serum gives me is almost like I have just come out of a salon, which is good!
However, all these effects are not long term. For me to maintain this flawless look, I need to apply this serum every single day — both on damp and dry hair. Nonetheless, I am still very satisfied with the results it gives me. Till date, I have not experienced any negative effect from it. I think L'Oreal Professionnel X-Tenso Care Serum is suitable for all hair types. I say this because I have an oily scalp, yet I enjoy using this serum. So it is good to go.
Will I repurchase it again? Definitely!
Does not look cakey
Easy to blend
Washes off easily
Can be used daily
Does not break me out
SPF not specified properly
I came across Lakme Face Magic Skin Tints Soufflé while looking for a light coverage foundation. I liked the concept of it being a lighter version of a foundation and a thicker version of a BB cream.
I have fair skin, so I got the Natural Pearl. My skin leans towards combination during winter and oily during the summer season. Ever since I got this tint Soufflé, I have been using it every day. It gives me a sheer glow and blurs my pores and makes me look like I have flawless skin. I don’t have much skin problems, so it works fine for me. But I think for those who want full coverage should skip it. It won’t do justice.
For the price it comes at, Lakme Face Magic Skin Tints Soufflé is a pretty good deal. However, I won’t use it during the summer season because I don’t know how much sun protection it has and also it can be washed off very easily. Some may find a problem with finding the right shade because it has just three options.
But for the winter season and for those who have common skin tones, it is one of the best I have used in a very long time.
Not suitable for dry skin
Does not lighten skin tone
Not easy to blend
I didn’t see much change or progress with the Lakme Absolute Perfect Radiance Skin Lightening Night Creme. I thought I would finish the whole tub first before I give any review. So after patiently waiting and finishing it, I can conclude that this cream is just not for me. Maybe it’s because I have always struggled with dry skin. This cream is not suitable to adequately nourish it. It might work alright for others, but not for me.
Evens out skin tone
Does not sit on fine lines and wrinkles
Makes skin oily after three to four hours
Bobbi Brown Skin Weightless Powder Foundation comes in a sleek compact with a sponge placed next to the foundation. The packaging is very convenient and makes the whole application process fast and easy.
This powder foundation does not give heavy coverage but just the right amount to give a natural look. It also evens out the skin tone smoothly although it won’t cover individual spots.
I use the sponge to blend because a brush does not give enough coverage.
What I like the most about this compact is the finishing. It is very natural and blends like my second skin.
One downfall though, is that this powder foundation makes my face quite oily after three to four hours. I expected it to stay matte for long. Also, blotting can make the foundation patchy.
Overall, my final verdict is, this Bobbi Brown Skin Weightless Powder Foundation is meant for a natural look. So if you are looking for good coverage, this one is not right for you. But if you want a natural look, please go ahead and give it a try.
Convenient and easy packaging
Light and creamy texture
Stays intact for 6-8 hours
Good and buildable coverage
Cannot be blended out with a sponge or makeup brush
Needs to be touched up throughout the day
Can get wear off in humid weather
I have a yellow to warm undertone, and the shade 003 Warm Beige was a good match for my skin tone. I don’t have much problem with blemishes and pimples, but what I have been a victim of is dark circles and visible pores on my nose. I have always been a frequent buyer of Colorbar lipsticks. I just love the variety of shades available and how pigmented they are. So, I am not a stranger to the brand. When they launched this concealer-cum-foundation, I had to try it.
I have been using Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30 for almost a year now.
The packaging of this makeup stick is everything! It has the classic Colorbar appeal, and I love their metalluc look. It looks like a giant lipstick! The packaging is convenient and travel-friendly. I carry it almost everywhere in my handbag. It fits perfectly in my sling bag as well.
Since I have combination skin, I don’t use any moisturizer or primer before applying Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick. Right after face wash, I dab it all over my face. It has medium coverage, so it does not feel heavy. This makeup stick can also be built up, so I apply it more on my dark circles to get good coverage. After dabbing it, I use my fingers to blend. I tried using a sponge and brush to feel like a pro, but it didn’t work. The thing is, Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick has a thick creamy texture, so it needs the warmth of my fingers. It blends easily and evenly.
After I started using Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick, I have almost stopped using other moisturizers. Since I go to the office every day, I use this makeup stick daily. It has a good staying duration. By the end of the day, my T-zone gets a little shiny, so it needs just a little touch-up and I’m good to go.
When it is very humid, it wears off from under my eyes. So that is something I don’t really like. I quickly go to the washroom and dab some more. So this concealer-cum-foundation is not an ultimate product, but it is a pretty good one.
Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30 is definitely one product to watch out for, ladies. It gives good coverage without making your skin look cakey. Although it is a good concealer and foundation, there are some things you should be aware of. If you have visible pores, I will suggest you avoid it as it does not cover them. Thankfully, I don’t have so many pores, so it’s not a big problem. Also, avoid using brushes and sponges to blend it out because it does not work. Overall, it is a good product.
Improves hair texture
Suitable for straightened hair
Retains the effect of the straightening treatment
Available only in salons
My natural hair is curly, but since I prefer straight hair, I went ahead and straightened it. This was four years back. Back then, I didn’t really know how to take care of it. Even though my hairdresser recommended it, I still didn’t buy L'Oreal Professionnel XTenso Care Pro Shampoo because I thought it’ll be a waste of money.
But a week after straightening, my hair became very unpleasing to touch. I thought I got fooled by the parlor, so I rushed to argue with them. My beautician calmly explained the reason and the next thing you know I was headed home with L'Oreal Professionnel XTenso Care Pro Shampoo in my hand.
L'Oreal Professionnel XTenso Care Pro Shampoo has been my only shampoo ever since I got my hair straightened. After my episode with the beautician, this shampoo is the only one I use on my hair. Being faithful to it has benefited me in many ways. To start with, my hair does not look like it went under extreme heat. It seems naturally straight, smooth, and silky. There is no sign of frizziness or tangling. This shampoo smells heavenly. Since I don’t have any major hair problems, this shampoo is perfect for me.
The only thing I don’t like about L'Oreal Professionnel X Tenso Care Pro Shampoo is that it is difficult to carry around when I travel. So, I have to mummify the bottle with cling wrap before putting it in my bag.
Strengthens the hair
Mild on the scalp
Works very well on oily hair
Smoothens and gives shine to hair
Washes oil and dirt easily
I was unaware of this brand until my friend suggested it to me. Sadly the highly chemical-based products are ruling over the market not giving way to those mild ones, like this shampoo. At least that’s what I feel.
I purchased this shampoo based on my friend’s recommendation, and now, I’m almost done with the bottle. I don’t know exactly how long it has lasted me, but it has been quite some time, maybe around four months.
When I first started using it, I wasn’t sure if I liked it because like everyone else, I am also brand conscious. So, I was evaluating it very closely as I needed just one excuse to stop using it, and that never happened.
The consistency is perfect for me as it forms good lather. It cleanses my greasiness and washes off dirt with ease. Post washing, my hair feels light and flawless. My hair fall has amazingly reduced. Wait…. Before you make any fast conclusions, I will like to add that it is impossible for just a bottle of shampoo to cure hair fall. In my case also, it’s the same. I am using this shampoo along with oiling my hair thrice a week. This shampoo is a booster that strengthens the hair and makes it less prone to breakage.
I like this shampoo, and I will be repurchasing it.
Does not soak in entirely
Leaves a film layer
Can be greasy
I am not so certain if this cream was worth the money I spent. It is nice and thick, but it doesn’t get absorbed, it just sits on top of my skin like a film layer. Having dry skin, I do like those moisturizers that give me a glowy finish, but the layer this cream provides feels greasy. I'll finish the jar but won't be purchasing it again.
Lakmé Absolute Skin Gloss Gel Creme comes in a very appealing packaging. The first thing that attracted me to it was its black color. I thought it is a charcoal formulated cream because these days, I am obsessed with charcoal skin care products. This cream is clearly not what I thought. But still I purchased it reading its claims; it was very impressive.
At first, I used it during the day, but that didn’t work quite the way I want it, so I started using it as my night cream. If you ask me how I like this cream, I will answer, “confused.”
Here is why. First, it has no SPF. So to wear it during the day is not an option for me. Second, it has a cooling effect. How am I supposed to use it during winter when it’s cold and chilly?
Lakmé needs to make up their mind on what they want this gel cream to be. With no other option, I am using it as my night cream. Since I have dry skin, Lakmé Absolute Skin Gloss Gel Creme works well.
It is a lightweight gel-cream which is faint blue in color. When I apply it before going to bed, the cooling effect makes my face feel fresh. The moisturization is quite enough to keep my skin hydrated and nourished. It does not get heavy or sticky. The smell though is a complete turn-off. It smells very masculine for my liking. But thankfully, it goes away soon after the gel cream gets absorbed, which is within seconds.
Overall, it is an average product. I won’t be purchasing it again because I don’t want to compromise when it comes to my skin.
Light on sensitive skin
I have very sensitive, oily and acne prone skin. My dermatologist asked me to start using Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel instead of other face creams. That’s how I was introduced to it.
So as soon as I got this gel, I started using it and it has been a year now. I use it right after I wash my face in the morning and right before I go off to sleep. I just take a pea-sized amount and it covers all my face. That way it is long-lasting.
The consistency of this gel is light and transparent. It gets absorbed into my skin with ease. It does not get greasy nor does it feel heavy. I like the fact that it has no fragrance.
Ever since I started using this gel, my skin looks much better. And the frequency of my breakouts has gone down by 80%. Like I said earlier, I have oily skin and it tends to get shiny within few hours. My skin still gets oily but it remains fresh for at least 4-5 hours, which is great.
The acne on my cheeks has reduced, the redness is lesser and my sensitive skin reacts to this gel positively. Over these months, it is clear how Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel has improved my skin overall.
I am so glad for this gel and I will gladly recommend this to anyone to shares the same problem.
No harmful chemicals
Lightens acne scars and marks
Does not make the skin oily
Not effective in lightening the skin
I have acne-prone skin, and my old pimples have left behind a few scars and marks. This cream has done some wonders with my scars and marks. I use this cream as a night cream as well, after cleansing because it is so light in texture. I must say the difference is visible.
Forms good lather
Removes oil and dirt well
Does not reduce hair fall
Does not reduce frizz
This shampoo from Patanjali might be the first to one smell like orange and it is pleasing. I guess Baba Ramdev is reading the reviews of his products (lol). I have used quite a few of his products, and some have worked whereas some were utterly useless junk.
This shampoo leans towards those successful ones. It claims to give naturally beautiful hair, and I believe that it is doing exactly that. My hair feels relief from all the tension caused by the pollution around me, and it stays tamed for a solid two days.
The packaging is simple. Nothing fancy, but it works well for me. The texture of this mustard colored shampo is not creamy, but it forms a very good lather. So, while washing my hair, I feel satisfied with the way it cleanses my scalp and hair.
It’s so affordable that anyone can purchase it and give it a try. Even if it doesn’t work, you won’t be losing much. That was also my thought while purchasing it.
If you ask me whether I’ll purchase it again, I will say that I will. Although it is not a fancy shampoo, it does the job of any other shampoo, so yeah definitely purchasing it again.
Softens the skin
Can make you sweat
Cannot be used with makeup
I have a very complicated relationship with this product. I love and hate it at the same time. To begin with, Patanjali Beauty Cream is all herbal, and it comes in a tube packaging with a screw lid. The texture of the cream is thick, and it is beige in color. I don’t really like its smell because it has a medicinal odor, but I’m glad the cream has no additional fragrance added to it to maintain its naturality. I can carry Patanjali Beauty Cream in my bag wherever I go, i.e., it won’t spill and get messy.
I like this cream because it helped my skin achieve a natural glow and improved my skin tone. The thing I don’t like about this cream is that I can’t wear it during the day because it makes my skin greasy and makes me sweat a lot! This cream also does not have SPF, so it does not provide any sun protection. Once when I applied the cream during the day, I came back home looking like a melting candle and the whole way back home I cursed myself for the bad decision I took in the morning.
So, I learned the lesson the hard way. I stopped using this cream during the day and started using it as a night cream. I have a combination skin type, so it works well as a night cream. Since the texture is thick, the cream needs some blending to get absorbed. On application, the smell is quite strong, but I try not to have a problem with it. So it’s like I choose to ignore the smell.
Overall, the product is fine but not extraordinary. It does manage to improve my skin, so I still use it.
