The Kiehl’s apothecary first served in 1851. Later, in 1894, it was bought by John Kiehl who started John Kiehl & co. under Kiehl Pharmacy. Fast forward to 1921, Kiehl’s signature scent, Original Musk Oil was launched. The age-old tradition of “Try Before You Buy” started in 1922. These complimentary samples marked valuable customer service. Two years later, Kiehl’s became the first company to list out all its ingredients on the product label. They made it a trend even before the US government mandated it, ensuring customers are sure and aware of their buying decisions.

A few years later, Mr. Bones, a life-size teaching skeleton, made it to all Kiehl’s stores to help people learn and understand their conditions and ailments. The Ultra Facial Moisturizer, Calendula Herbal Extract Toner, Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1, are the forerunners who are still the best sellers up until today, made their debut in 1962. In 2005, Kiehl’s introduced its Dermatologist Solutions range. An advanced skincare range, it was formulated after thorough research of Kiehl’s chemists and able dermatologists. On the completion of 160 years of service and enticement in the community, Kiehl’s Gives Back was launched to educate its customers.
