I have very oily skin, so much so that by two to three hours after touching up my moisturizer, my skin gets oily. I think that’s a major issue with oily skin. Right?

I saw my friend using this L'Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Anti Shine Icy Gel and the look of it caught my attention. The fresh blue seemed young and fresh. Within no time, I bought it too!

I use it to wake my skin up in the morning daily. I can’t use it before applying makeup as it doesn’t blend well with it. But that’s the least of my concerns. It has been over a month, and ever since I started using it, my oil secretion has visibly reduced. Right after application, this gel gives a tingling cooling effect which is very fresh during the summer. And, as it claims, I get a matte finish. The effect lasts for about four to five hours. That itself is a winner for me.

The gel is not runny, but just the right amount of thickness to blend really well and it gets absorbed quickly. The smell is fresh like the way the moisturizer looks, but it fades away soon after application which might be liked by many. L'Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Anti Shine Icy Gel leaves my skin hydrated and smooth.

I absolutely love the matte finish and the way it is controlling my acne. It’s hard to believe that I have found the moisturizer my skin has been thirsting for. It is one of the best I have used, and I will be recommending it.

But friends, I do have one complain about it. Though L'Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Anti Shine Icy Gel has become close to my heart, it does not have SPF. So the question arises, how can we use it during the day? I don’t have the answer for it. I mean I did try my usual sunscreen, but unfortunately, it didn’t work. Since this gel moisturizer gives a matte finish after absorption, my sunscreen becomes too dry to blend on my skin. I am confused myself. I am looking for a sunscreen that will go just right with this gel moisturizer. I am still holding onto L'Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Anti Shine Icy Gel because I love it so much. Probably a mild consistency sunscreen will work. Fingers crossed on my hunt for it.

PROS

Gets absorbed quickly

Controls oil

Matte finish

Appealing packaging

CONS

Not suitable for oily skin

Can cause rashes

I am a girl with combination skin, so to tackle the unwanted shine on my T-zone area, I started using L’Oreal Icy Gel three weeks back. Well, it has a very appealing look and texture. It also gets absorbed really quickly and gives a matte finish. It also keeps the oiliness on my T-zone at bay.

But the big ‘BUT’ is that after a few weeks of using it, I started seeing red rashes on my cheeks. I freaked out and went to see my dermatologist, and she said my cheeks aren’t getting enough moisture and the L'Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Anti Shine Icy Gel is drying it out.

I stopped using it immediately. I am not saying that this is a bad product, but it can be drying for dry skin and some combination skin type. I am sure it will work wonders on oily skin. So I advise you to take precautions before purchasing it.

Ideal for oily and acne-prone skin

Just a small amount required per use

Prevents breakouts

CONS

Unhygienic packaging

I absolutely adore this product from L’Oreal. Who doesn’t know L’Oreal, right? So I started using this gel-based moisturizer from eight to nine months back and haven’t looked back since.

Yes, it is a bit pricey compared to other moisturizers in the market, but this gel-based moisturizer requires just a small amount to cover all of my face. So that makes it last for a long time. I do wish it came in a more hygienic container but the way it works on me, I can let that pass.

Its texture is light on my skin, and I have not had any breakouts since my journey started with L'Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Anti Shine Icy Gel. I adore it. I will always be recommending this moisturizer for oily and acne-prone skin.

PROS

Leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth

Reduces shine and oiliness

Long-lasting effect

CONS

Expensive

Not very moisturizing

Overpowering cooling effect that is not suitable for sensitive skin

This moisturizer from L'Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Anti Shine Icy Gel gives a cooling effect which I don’t really like very much. I used it during the winter, and though I like the effect it had on my skin, the cooling sensation was a bit too much for me, especially on the sides of my nose. It does fade away after a minute or so.

Overall, it is a decent gel-based moisturizer, but I won’t repurchase it.
