Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation - I couldn’t help but buy it. I felt it was a little highly priced, but I just wanted to try this because the name sounded so cool. I got the shade Nude to match my wheatish skin tone. And, my skin is a combination type.
The brand claims that this foundation is velvety, soft-matte, lasts about 12 hours and all other good things. But for me, nothing seems to have worked. There are more problems with this foundation than there are good qualities in it.
The first time I used this foundation was on top of primer, God, was it a mistake. It highlighted my pores so much that my skin looked like a sponge. I tried blending it in, but more blending only made it dissipate. I had to take it off immediately.
The next time I tried it without primer, and it wasn’t very bad. But, within a couple of hours, it oxidized and became two tones darker. Also, it melts under the sun. I wonder if there is anything right with this foundation. I am not going to try it ever again.
Anyway, for me, it did not work at all. But, people with normal skin type could give it a try. However, make sure you read enough reviews before you decide to spend your money on it.

Not for summers
I looked up the shades online and ordered one which I thought was closest to my skin. But unfortunately, this one was at least two tones lighter. However, this worked in my favor when I tried it on, on a summer day. First, I was slightly tanned, and second, it oxidizes, so it became a shade darker after a while and matched my skin tone.
The texture is super soft and velvety and glides on the skin like butter. Blending is also easy. But, on summer days, this foundation melts. It makes you feel heavy and everything that gets in touch with your face, like a tissue, the product will transfer. I always set it with loose powder, but this is surely not the best foundation out there.
It’s good to be worn for 3 to 4 hours when the sun’s down. I don’t think I will repurchase it.

Works without primer
When I considered buying this foundation, all I came across was negative reviews. However, I knew it would work for my normal skin type, so I bought it without thinking much. I got the shade Ivory for me. It’s a perfect match for my skin tone. I do not have a lot of skin imperfections, and I think that’s why the foundation suits me really well.
It offers 7 to 8 hours of coverage, and a little product is enough to cover the entire face. I love this foundation, and it’s a must have for anyone with normal skin type. It will do wonders for you.

Might feel heavy for oily skin
Does not work with primer
I have combination skin type. I bought this foundation because it is meant for normal to combination skin. The first time I used it, I thought what a waste of money it was. But then, I read a lot of reviews and gave it another try. I used it on bare skin, and it’s smooth, velvety texture was enough to provide moisturization and also worked as a primer. I finished with loose powder, and it worked just fine.
