How much caffeine should I have a day?
The maximum amount of caffeine consumption of an individual depends on his/her age, gender, and health condition. The maximum daily dose of a healthy person should not exceed 400 mg which is equivalent to three large mugs of filter coffee. Exceeding this might affect your sleep or cause other health issues.
However, for people with health conditions, such as high blood pressure, the daily safe caffeine dose might change. In such cases it is advisable for you to consult your doctor for a recommended daily caffeine intake.
Safe Caffeine Limits for Children
Consumption of caffeine is altogether discouraged in young children. For adolescents (aged 12-18) no more than 100 mg is advised which is equivalent to two shots of expresso.
