There are many artists who struggled and made it big on the television screen. They were loved by the aam janta so much that these very successful television actors and actresses thought that they would receive the same love when they tried their luck in the tinsel town, the Bollywood! They quit their TV careers when they were at the peak only to venture into Bollywood and make it big even there. Sadly, Bollywood world isn’t that welcoming to all; while for some the leap of faith worked out well, for some it just didn’t! Here’s a list of actors who quit their television acting careers to enter Bollywood and it didn’t work in favor of them. Read on.

1. Rajeev Khandelwal

You must remember him from the television serial, Kahiin To Hoga. This show was a huge hit and he became the heartthrob of the television industry for quite some time because of it. He later worked in a few more television shows and played the lead in this show titled Left Right Left. He quit the show midway to embark on his journey to the Bollywood industry. His first Bollywood movie, Aamir was released in the year 2008. His acting skills were applauded; however, the movie being a serious one was a flop at the box office. Ever since then, he’s seen in a couple of other films but none of them got the “hit” status.

2. Aamna Sharif

This beautiful television actress won hearts instantly when she was seen playing the female lead opposite Rajeev Khandelwal in Kahiin Toh Hoga. Just when she could have experimented with some more shows in the television industry, the Bollywood bug bit her. She starred in two Bollywood films, both released in the same year. She was seen cast opposite to Aftab Shivdasani in both her movies; sadly, both didn’t work out well. And let’s just conclude by saying that her Bollywood career ended even before it could take a flight.

3. Karan Singh Grover

He was every teen girl’s dream boyfriend when he debuted on television with the serial, Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi. Girls crushed over him when he played Dr. Armaan Malik in the serial Dill Mill Gayye. He wanted to venture into Bollywood after having done successful television shows. Even we might think that at that stage of his career it was okay for him to dream big. He’s so far worked in four Bollywood movies and hasn’t been lucky with the industry in spite of marrying the well-established B-town actress Bipasha Basu.

4. Hansika Motwani

Unlike others, Hansika’s case is different. She started acting in television serials right from her school days. The millennials will definitely remember her from the kids’ serial Shaka Laka Boom Boom. She marked her Bollywood debut as a child artist alongside Bollywood’s macho man, Hrithik Roshan. She wanted to play the female lead and attain the heroine status in the Bollywood industry. However, Hansika made the blunder of starting opposite Himesh Reshammiya in the movie Tera Surroor instead of waiting for a better opportunity. She constantly tried to make comebacks with many movies but only failed. Hansika found her fame in the South Indian film industries and has acted alongside many popular actors as the female lead.

5. Rannvijay Singh

He was the winner of the first-ever season of Roadies, he later went on to host the same reality show for several seasons and even donned the VJ (Video Jockey) role on MTV. He then tried his luck in Bollywood starring alongside big names like Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He’s mostly played the side characters in a number of Bollywood movies and none worked out well for him. He then returned to where it all began, the Roadies show; but this time as a judge.

6. Prachi Desai

She was one of those bubbly, cute actresses of the Indian television industry during her time. Prachi was adored for her lead role in the TV show Kasamh Se. Then she too just like others quit the show midway to enter the tinsel town. In spite of starting in big-budget movies like Rock On and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, the actress still hasn’t been able to bag good roles in good movies. We can call her a struggling actor as of now.

7. Manish Paul

Manish Paul can be called as one of people’s favorite TV hosts ever. His comic timing is so unique that it leaves all his spectators laughing till the tummy hurts. He’s even hosted a couple of award shows both for the television industry and the Bollywood industry. Bollywood loves entertainment and everybody thought that Manish would perfectly fit in the tinsel world. However, his first stint in Bollywood, the movie Micky Virus tanked big time! After having tried his luck in a couple of other movies, he’s back to where he belongs, the television.

These are just some of the actors from a swarm of many. As much as we cannot help notice their failed attempts in making a name in the Bollywood industry, we sincerely hope that they find their place soon or return to being loved in the television industry.
