After nearly a month of hospitalization, Amitabh Bachchan was discharged from Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. He shared the news with his followers and wrote, “I have tested COVID – have been discharged. I am back home in solitary quarantine. Grace of the Almighty, blessings of Ma Babuji, prayers, duas of near and dear and friends fans EF and the excellent care and nursing at Nanavati made it possible for me to see this”. The veteran actor’s family, save for his wife, Jaya Bachchan, had tested positive for Coronavirus. His daughter in law, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, and grand-daughter Aaradhya Bachchan had been released from the hospital on the 27th of July while Amitabh’s son Abhishek is still recovering in the hospital. Read on to find out how the utterly, butterly delicious Amul managed to uplift the actor’s spirit:

In India, Amul is an everyday household name. The company’s classic mascots are known for their interesting style of animation and are almost, if not more, as popular as the Parle G girl. They are known for making ads and illustrations based on current events and as tributes to famed celebrities. The brand last paid tribute to the great actor and comedian, Jagdeep, who passed away in July of this year.

Amul shared an image of a cartoonized Amitabh sitting on a couch with the classic Amul girl by his side and the caption, “Amitabh Bachchan returns home from hospital!”. The caption on the image itself read, “AB beats C”, making a reference to Amitabh’s initials and the virus. Amitabh himself reposted the picture and thanked Amul for always thinking of him in their various poster campaigns (1).

Amitabh returned home just in time to see his grand-children for the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The actor shared a heartwarming collage of his little granddaughter Aaradhya in the arms of her older cousin Agastya Nanda. He also included both their parents, siblings Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda in the image. The 77-year-old actor shared an emotional caption about how brothers are the ones who safeguard their sisters and hold their hands in times of trouble. He wrote about how no matter what happens, a brother must be by his sister’s side and help her fight off any evil.

“Raksha Bandhan: ‘Raksha’ to protect; ‘Bandhan’ to tie to bond to hold together”, the actor wrote and added that our society is in possession of century-old traditions that make everyone feel valuable and essential. Amitabh must be delighted to spend such a special occasion with his family once more. Although, Abhishek Bachchan is still not out of the woods yet and is still recovering from the virus in the hospital (2).

Facing The Wrath Of Trolls

Both Amitabh and Abhishek have faced the wrath of trolls online. As the son of a legendary actor, Abhishek Bachchan has often faced the wrath of trolls in the past. However, this time, the trolls took it too far and the actor even hit back at them. A Twitter troll had commented, “Your father admitted in hospital… Ab kiske bharose baith ke khaoge?”. However, we doubt the Twitter troll expected the witty actor to reply to her statements. Abhishek wrote, “As of now, both of us are lying down and eating together in the hospital.”

Clearly the actor proves you don’t need to step down to the troll’s level to prove a point. However, the troll wouldn’t stop there. She continued her tirade against the actor until he replied telling her that he hopes she never gets caught in a situation like the one he and his father are in and that he prays for her safety. He also thanked her for her sarcastic wishes for him and his father.

Amitabh too hit back at an anonymous troll who wished that he and Abhishek would die. The actor had taken to his blog to write that the troll was trying to gain self-importance by targeting someone who is in a bad situation. He added that the troll is anonymous because he is ashamed and is “fatherless”. The actor had some harsh words of reality to share with the troll and wrote about how if he does die, the troll will have to find another celebrity to target his nonsense towards. Amitabh however, spoke about how determined he was to survive. He also added that his 90 million-plus following was a force to be reckoned with. Ending his address to the troll the actor wrote that he hopes the troll boils in the wrath of his own stew (3).

Amitabh had earlier been trolled due to the fact that Rekha’s security guard had tested positive for Coronavirus around the same time that he had tested positive. This was due to their rumored affair in the 80s. The actress herself is perfectly fine and her building had been sealed off due to the positive case. Neither of the actors addressed the trolls and many people online defended the actors and asked people not to make light of the situation.

It’s wonderful to see that despite all the negativity surrounding online trolls, true Amitabh fans will always honor and respect him for his contributions to cinema and more. Amul is known for being bold and the voice of the people. The brand has never shied away from addressing topics that might be deemed controversial.
