A few days ago, Priyanka Chopra divided the internet with her plunging Ralph & Russo ensemble at the 62nd Grammy Awards 2020. Many were quick to critique her appearance and compare her to Jennifer Lopez, who started the trend waaay back in 2000 at the 42nd Grammy Awards. Jennifer Lopez’s outfit was a gorgeous peacock green Versace dress and many felt that Priyanka’s was dull and boring in comparison. However, apparent imitation aside, many B-Town celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, and Jahnvi Kapoor have also been seen sporting plunging necklines. So let’s look at this list of striking Bollywood divas and their bold outfits:
1. Kareena Kapoor
Of course, we cannot begin this list without the fashion icon and queen of sass, Kareena Kapoor. Known for playing iconic, fashionable, and out-there characters, it’s no surprise that the actress opts to channel her personality through her fashion ensembles. The actress showed up at the Vogue Women Of The Year Awards in 2018 in an exquisite Naeem Khan piece. Bagging the award for Style Icon Of The Year, the actress strutted onto the red carpet in this daring and futuristic piece.

2. Deepika Padukone
Another fan of plunging necklines is the insanely-talented Deepika Padukone. She’s also a fan of the pant-suit look and during the Cannes Film Festival 2019, she was seen in a chic pinstripe ensemble designed by Spanish luxury fashion house, Loewe.
The actress also likes dressing in plunging pant-suit attires for some of her photoshoots. While she can most commonly be seen in backless or cold shoulder outfits, when she does wear a plunging neckline, she clearly rocks it.

3. Janhvi Kapoor
The Dhadak actress is unique in that she can carry off a Western look as well as a desi look with ease. Her chocolate brown body con dress was designed by Parisian fashion designer, Alexandre Vauthier and highlighted her curves in all the right places. The actress channeled her makeup to compliment her attire and wore a soft nude lipstick with bold brown, kohl-rimmed eyes.
A fan of earthy colors, the Ghost Stories actress donned a shiny golden-brown number for the Elle Awards in 2019 and stunned the attendees with her almost magical attire. We bet her mother would have been so proud!

The stunning actress rocked this black and golden Manish Malhotra designed ensemble at his 2019 show, Malhotraworld. Katrina clearly gives weight to the words ‘Showstopper’ in this striking piece.

The Student Of The Year 2 starlet wore a black-swan inspired gown designed by Gauri and Nainika to the Star Screen Awards in 2019. The outfit brought her a stroke of luck as she bagged her first film awards for ‘Fresh Face of The Year.’
Ananya wore this quirky black and blush pink outfit to the Filmfare Awards 2020. She styled her outfit with spiky black heels to add that tiny touch of rebel to her look and kept her hairstyle simple and slicked back.

While people argue over Priyanka Chopra’s outfit not being deemed “appropriate for Indian culture”, Indian actresses have been rocking plunging necklines on the red carpet for ages. Even before this generation of actresses came into the picture, Bollywood has never been one to shy away from showing too much skin.
