Best Friends Aren’t Afraid To Be Brutally Honest!

Everybody loves a compliment! It feels good and often proves to be the only mood enhancer you need when things go awry. Kind words that are not necessarily appreciative but empathetic can have the same effect.

But, not everyone in your life is going to shower you with sweet compliments all the time, right? Specifically, there’ll be one person in your life whom you’ll thank the gods for if they happen to say something nice to you!

Who’s that person? Well, your best friend of course!

Best friends may come in all shapes, sizes, colors or genders but the truest of them are a rare find. And, when you do manage to find one, you know you’re going to be blessed for the rest of your life. Because, in your best friend, you’ll find a person who’ll be closer to you than your closest family!

Your BFF will never stop believing in you even when the whole world turns its back on you. They will stand by you like an unflinching rock that no storm on this planet can break. They’ll weep with you when you shed a tear. And they’ll flash all the thirty-two of their pearly whites when you smile!

Your best friend will always be around to celebrate your success and to support you in your failures. Even on an ordinary day, when nothing happens and life seems to move at a turtle’s pace, your best friend will hang around and share a slurry ice cream with you on a lazy Sunday!

You think you just messed up? So what? Your BFF is neither going to leave you nor going to judge you for the mistakes you make. Have you got an endlessly long tale to narrate? Your BFF will patiently hear you out for hours even if that means sacrificing on the much loved and precious sleep hours.

Even when you reject their advice and do your own thing, they’ll be there for you. They’ll still pretty much stick around and gather the weeping mess you become, but with a smug “I told you so!” grin thrown in. They’ll nudge you forward so you can learn more and perhaps make new mistakes as you figure out life along with them.

While these are just a handful things your BFF will do with and for you, there are some things they’ll never do. And it’s these things that serve as a true hallmark of their friendship! When the worst situations arise, your best friend won’t stop from being honest with you. They’ll tell you what they don’t like and will be honest to the T. Instead of hiding it from you or talking about it behind your back, Your BFF will confront you.

Speaking their mind is a thing your best friend is quite an expert in. There’s no sugar-coating. There’s no fake niceness here. It’s just the truth straight without any drama or a tinge of sweetness. That doesn’t mean your bum-chum is rude though. Well, at least not all the time! They try being as constructively critical as possible. And at other times, when you do something good or look great, they don’t hold out on appreciating you either!

Despite that, they realize that at times, they need to give you the bitter pill. As bad as they may feel giving that pill to you, they will not step back from telling you when you’re not being yourself. They know who you are in and out can easily tell when you feel messed up but try not to show it. They blatantly tell you about the mistakes you made but still help you in righting your wrongs.

When it comes to your relationships, they make it a point to let you know that your partner is acting up or that you’re being a total psycho for being jealous of that girl! Disagreeing with you is not something they’re afraid of even if that comes at the cost of a fight.

Even though they try their best to make you feel better, they know that sometimes you need the truth instead of the sweet lies. Which means, more often than not, they end up telling what you need to listen to rather than what you want to listen to. That doesn’t mean they’re trying to hurt you. Au contraire, they’re just trying to save you from a bad situation.

Besides, your best bud knows that the friendship you two share is strong enough to withstand everything that’s thrown at it. And, that includes honesty that can hurt.

So if you have a best friend who’s unabashedly honest with you, don’t curse your luck. Count it as a blessing instead. Such friends are rare gems whose true value you cannot fathom until you lose them. These are the kind of friends who save you from being the worst version of yourself.
