While we may not have won any major awards at the Emmys this year, the event proved to be a major bonanza with our favorite Bollywood celebrities— Karan Johar, Radhika Apte, Zoya Akhtar, Kubbra Sait and more. If you’re active on social media, you’d know how good these personalities are at dropping jaws with their stunning looks as much as they are with their creative work. 1. Radhika Apte
Accomplished actress Radhika Apte bagged not one, but two nominations! Radhika’s major nomination was that of Best Performance by an Actress for her role in Lust Stories. The acclaimed actress played Kalindi, an obsessive professor who gets involved with one of her students. Radhika strutted her exquisite and futuristic dress designed by Iris Van Herpen on the red carpet. The structural and unique dress won the hearts of fashion critics world over. Featuring stunning metallic motifs and a unique flower petal and symmetric design, the outfit was genuinely striking to witness. Her show, Lust Stories was also nominated for The Best TV Movie/ Mini-Series segment of the Emmys.
2. Kubbra Sait
Actress Kubbra Sait’s show, Sacred Games also bagged a nomination for the Best Drama Series. The stunning actress astonished the crowd with her futuristic gown designed by fashion icon Gaurav Gupta and her specially designed jewelry. The up and coming actress’s stunning metallic mermaid gown gave us major Ariel vibes and her lovely jewelry and silvery eye shadow truly gave the look an almost alienesque feel. The actress won critical acclaim for her role as a trans woman in Sacred Games. In the show, she plays the object of desire and later the girlfriend of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lead character— Ganesh Gaitonde.
3. Karan Johar
Everyone’s favorite Bolly drama director Karan Johar stunned the carpet with his Dolce and Gabbana ensemble. The dazzling tuxedo featured a bright red collar, floral golden embroidery, and a cute bow tie to top it all off. It was a proud moment for the director as his show Lust Stories was nominated in two categories. Ultimately, the show didn’t win any of its nominations, but the director received a medal like all the other nominees that night.
4. Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Ever the gentleman, Nawazuddin Siddiqui kept it minimal yet dapper in his firm pressed black tuxedo and black bow tie. The extraordinarily talented actor was all smiles on the red carpet as both the shows that he starred in— Sacred Games and McMafia were nominated for an Emmy in the same category, Best Drama Series. The award was eventually won by the British series McMafia and Nawazuddin made sure to pose with his director James Watkins.
5. Anurag Kashyap
Prolific director Anurag Kashyap too kept it minimal and classy in his chic all black, and desi inspired outfit. The director shared an image of his Lust Stories team and let everyone know they had a great time despite not bagging any awards. Anurag directed Radhika Apte’s part in the series of shorts. He has also worked with Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Sacred Games as well as award-winning and critically acclaimed films Gangs Of Wasseypur and Raman Raghav 2.0.
6. Zoya Akhtar
Zoya Akhtar also “wow”ed us with her breath-taking Sabyasachi-designed Bohemian ensemble and chunky metallic jewelry. She added to the look with a pair of Chunky Ochre boots, and honestly, we need to know where she got them from, stat! The prolific director made sure she had some fun after the event and even grabbed a symmetrical #corridorchronicles picture with fellow Lust Stories director Karan Johar at the Emmys after-party. The director is well-loved in the Indian film industry and known for her hit movies like Gully Boy starring Bollywood heart-throb, Ranveer Singh and buddy film, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara starring brother and actor Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, and Abhay Deol in lead roles.
Radhika Apte took to the gram to share some incredible and aesthetic shots of both the teams with Anurag and her making a double appearance; thanks to their multiple nominations.
We wish both teams the best of luck, and while they might not have bagged any awards this year, it’s no surprise that their exquisite looks have been all over our news feed today.
