Whether it be actors dating producers or directors dating their lead actors, it’s no secret that dating within the film fraternity is a common thing. And while we fawn over celebrity couples and refer to them as power couples, not all love stories end in marriage. Almost every person on this planet has a “one that got away”, that perfect person who just might have been the love of their lives. So here is a list of popular celebrities and their “ones that got away”:
1. Sajid Khan And Gauhar Khan
Before Sajid was involved in a high profile relationship with Sri Lankan beauty, Jacqueline Fernandes, he was allegedly involved with Bigg Boss 7 winner, Gauhar Khan. According to sources, the pair had dated for some time and had also secretly gotten engaged in a clandestine ceremony. Unfortunately, the pair separated. Many assumed it was due to the huge age gap of twelve years between the pair. In an interview with a popular website, Sajid admitted to being engaged to someone from the industry in the year 2003. While he never revealed the name of the person, he did throw some shade at the relationship. According to Sajid, his then-partner ended things with him because she “got bored of him”.
2. Akshay Kumar And Raveena Tandon
For those of us born in the 90s, Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon will forever be immortalized as the two lovebirds frolicking about in the rain in Tip Tip Barsa Paani. Their sizzling on-screen chemistry translated well into real life and before long the pair were romantically involved. In a tell-all interview with a popular tabloid, Raveena revealed that she and Akshay had actually gotten engaged but he wanted to keep things hush-hush for fear of losing his female fans and career. When asked about the reason why they broke up, Raveena cited Akshay’s infidelities with his various co-stars. According to Raveena, Akshay didn’t understand the true meaning of loyalty and expected her to take him back after each affair. The actress later walked away and married another person while Akshay married Twinkle Khanna. The rest, as they say, is history.
3. Karisma Kapoor And Abhishek Bachchan
When Karisma and Abhishek announced their engagement on Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th Birthday, the country could not keep calm. This marriage would unite two major Bollywood families together and the couple seemed very much in love. At the time, Karisma was one of the most successful actresses in the industry and Abhishek too had a promising career ahead of him. The pair met at the wedding of Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda. Unfortunately, the couple broke things off just a few months after getting engaged. Fans speculated the true reasons behind the split and many suspected Karishma’s mother Babita had something to do with it. According to reports, Babita was not confident that the Bachchan’s would be able to provide for her daughter as they were going through a financial crisis and Abhishek was just starting out with his career. The pair don’t interact with each other in public and are busy in their own worlds.
4. Neil Nititn Mukesh And Priyanka Bhatia
The Saath Khoon Maaf actor and his designer girlfriend had been dating for two years when they decided to call off their relationship. Not too long before they called things off, Neil had confessed that his parents approved of the relationship and even provided their blessings. According to the actor, they were “as good as married”. Many fans took that as confirmation that the pair had secretly gotten engaged or even married. According to Neil, the split was amicable and that their relationship didn’t work because they came from two different worlds. The pair even shared a flat together while they were seeing each other.
5. Karan Singh Grover And Barkha Bisht
Now happily married to bong beauty, Bipasha Basu, Karan Singh Grover had quite the reputation as a ladies’ man. The Alone actor was involved in two high profile relationships that culminated in two marriages and two divorces. But before he fell into the arms of his ex-wives and current wife, he was dating popular TV actress Barkha Bisht. The two met on the sets of their MTV show in 2004 and were then inseparable. The pair was spotted painting the town red and things seem to have been going great. So much so, that their friends even believed they had already gotten engaged. Unfortunately, things started hitting a rough patch when Karan Singh Grover started getting close to his co-star and future wife— Jennifer Winget. Eventually Barkha called off the relationship and started dating her co-star who she later married. Karan on the other hand married Shraddha Nigam and continued being good friends with Jennifer Winget.
Sometimes relationships don’t work out and that’s perfectly okay.
