9 Bollywood Divas Who Prove Sustainability Is The Future Of Fashion

When you are an actress (or actor), you are likely to be at your trendiest at all times. Besides that, you are also expected to be keeping up with the latest trends that are going on in the fashion world. After all, Bollywood is mostly about looking super fashionable and always keeping up with fashion trends. This also means that a lot of the clothes and fabrics used during fashion shoots can lead to an immense amount of waste. Many believe that in order to be sustainable, they will have to tone down on their sense of fashion, but this is hardly the case. We have examples of Bollywood divas who prove to the rest of us that sustainable fashion is the bright future we all need. Here are nine divas who are all champions of the sustainable fashion cause:

1. Gul Panag

Gul Panag is more than a talented actress and pilot; she is also a huge philanthropist and works for various charities and social causes like “Shop For Change: Fair Trade.” Citizens launched this initiative to promote fair trade opportunities amongst vulnerable and impoverished farmers across Vidarbha, Kutch, and Telangana. It is promoted with regards to spreading sustainable clothing and fashion around.

2. Anushka Sharma

Anushka is a major animal lover and a proud supporter of the environment as well as environmental initiatives. She teamed up with a mental health organization known as SNEHA to help save water by embracing a movement known as circular fashion. Circular fashion involves re-using garments, and Anushka announced that she would be putting her maternity clothes up for sale.

3. Deepika Padukone

Deepika is one of the many in the entertainment industry who understands that “use and throw” fashion is both wasteful and bad for the environment. While celebrities are often mocked for repeating the same outfits, Deepika isn’t one to shy away from the spotlight. The actress rocks this trend and often re-uses her outfits in interesting ways. Deepika is super sustainable and has even been spotted at events wearing the same outfit in a different manner.

4. Richa Chaddha

Richa is well-known for being environmentally and socially conscious. The uber-talented actress is known for investing in local and organic fashion brands and definitely does her best to draw attention to sustainability. She wears sustainable clothing and labels not just in the comfort of her home but also during her events and in some of her movies.

5. Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee Pannu is one of the most prominent champions when it comes to the sustainability market. The Thappad actress is a lover of all things organic and comfortable. She is often spotted wearing original labels and sustainable pieces of clothing, and we love her for it.

6. Janhvi Kapoor

When it comes to a younger audience, who better than another Gen-Z celebrity to serve as style inspiration for them? And there’s no better place to look than Janhvi Kapoor’s Instagram account. The stylish starlet is known for her acting chops as well as her sense of style and is often spotted rocking environmentally friendly clothing.

7. Katrina Kaif

Katrina has walked the ramp in all kinds of international labels and has often played the role of muse for many famous designers during fashion weeks across the country. She has showcased a vast range of looks on her social media pages and at celebrity events, and more. However, during the filming of her film, Jagga Jasoos, Katrina was spotted wearing sustainable clothing by a brand called Reformation. It’s nice to see someone of Katrina’s status drawing attention towards sustainable fashion!

8. Rasika Dugal

Actress Rasika Dugal (one of the leads in Manto) has always kept her eye out for sustainable fashion trends and labels. She is often seen wearing some gorgeous and organic pieces of clothing at events. She has worn famous sustainable and organic brands while campaigning for her film at various film festivals as well.

9. Yami Gautam

Yami is the newest actress to hop on the sustainability bandwagon. The actress did a lot of research into sustainable fashion and found many environmentally conscious designers in Hong Kong. But in the end, she found her outfits on shores close to home and dived into the world of sustainable fashion through one of India’s much-loved designers, Anita Dongre. Dongre released a sustainable fashion collection called Grass Roots, and Yami was spotted wearing it.

Although we might not be able to afford the exact same wardrobe as many of our celebrity favorites, we can at least look towards them for inspiration. Going sustainable doesn’t mean you have to spend insane amounts of money. All you really need to do is take some small steps and try living in a greener and livelier wardrobe.
