Did you know that some of your favorite stars in Bollywood have a royal lineage? Sure, some of them give it away because of their last names but there is no way to know for sure. Some others are barely known with their royal name and so we have no idea. Actors like Saif Ali Khan who is known by his “Khan” surname is lesser-known as a Pataudi prince. 1. Aditi Rao Hydari
Aditi Rao Hydari is an Indian actress who debuted on-screen in 2006 with the Malayalam movie Prajapathi. Apart from being a talented actress, she is also a dancer and singer who works in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi films. Aditi began her Bollywood career in 2009 with the film, Delhi-6. She is gorgeous, no doubt but she is also a princess in real life. The young actress is Akbar Hydari’s great-granddaughter and Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari’s grandniece. Muhammad Saleh was the former governor of Assam. The Rockstar actress’s maternal grandfather, Raja J Rameshwar Rao was the Administration head of Wanaparthy state while her grandmother, Shanta Rameshwar Rao was Orient Blackswan Publishing House’s Chairperson and a reputed educationalist in Hyderabad.
2. Kiran Rao
You probably did not know that Aditi Rao and Kiran Rao are cousins, right? Another Rao, who is married to the perfectionist Aamir Khan, is a renowned filmmaker. Kiran Rao is the descendant of King Rameshwar Rao of Wanaparthy. A producer, screenwriter, and director, Kiran has contributed to some marvelous movies in Bollywood. Some of her remarkable movie mentions are Dangal, Dil Chahta Hai and Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. Hailing from a royal family, Kiran Rao is often praised for her humility and candidness. 3. Sagarika Ghatge
Most of you would recognize her as Preeti from Chak De! India. Sagarika Ghatge is an Indian actress who has acted in movies and TV shows. She is also a national level athlete and a finalist in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6. For those of you who don’t know, Sagarika is the daughter of Vijayendra Ghatge, an actor who has worked in Indian television industry and movies. He is a part of the former Kagal royal family. Not only this, Sagarika’s grandmother Sita Raje Ghate is the daughter of Maharaja Tukojira Holkar III of Indore. Fancy, isn’t it?
4. Saif Ali Khan
Famous Bollywood actor, Saif Ali Khan is a Pataudi prince. He goes by Saif Ali Khan but his full name is Saif Ali Khan Pataudi. His father, Pataudi Mansoor Ali Khan died and passed on the title “Nawab” to him. In 1971, the Indian government terminated the title before which Saif’s father late Pataudi Mansoor Aki Khan was the last Nawab. Currently, Saif Ali Khan is the owner of the Pataudi palace, also known as the Ibrahim Kothi. It is located in Gurgaon, Haryana. In 2014, the palace was renovated after Saif took over. 5. Sonal Chauhan
The gorgeous Sonal Chauhan is a model, actress, and singer who primarily works in Telugu and Hindi films. She debuted in the movie Jannat opposite Emraan Hashmi. 6. Bhagyashree
Did you know that Bhagyashree comes from a royal family too? The actress who rose to fame after her role in Maine Pyaar Kiya belongs to the royal family of Sangli. Her father, Vijay Singhrao Madhavrao Patwardhan, is the king of Sangli. In an interview, Bhagyashree revealed that she left her house to marry her highschool sweetheart Himalaya Desai.
7. Raima and Riya Sen
The Sen sisters are familiar faces in Bollywood and also a part of the Tripura royal family. Their great grandmother on the paternal side was the only child of Baroda’s Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III. Apart from this, the sisters are also a part of the royalty of Jaipur’s queen Maharani Gayatri Devi. Illa Devi who is the paternal grandmother of Raima and Riya was the Cooch Bihar Princess and the elder sister of Jaipur’s queen.
