Separated… For Now
In an interview with a leading daily, Charu revealed some personal information about her marriage to Sushmita Sen’s younger brother. She said, “Everybody knows this Rajeev is in Delhi and I am staying here in Mumbai alone. Beyond this, I am also asking God, ‘ab aage kya?’ I am also waiting for God’s directions.”
Charu was once engaged to Neeraj Malviya. However, the pair decided to call off their engagement. After the relationship didn’t work out, Charu moved on with Rajeev, who she met through a mutual friend. The pair were head over heels for one another and tied the knot in June of last year in a small civil ceremony and later a grand celebration. In happier times, Charu had said, “Rajeev is good-looking and honest. He is more romantic among the two of us. Also, he pampers me and takes care of me. He feels that I am real, simple, and without any facade (1).”
Rajeev, however, had denied the rumors of their split in an interview with a news channel. The model questioned why he would feel the need to move out of his own house. He alleged that someone in Charu’s friend circle was spreading baseless rumors about the pair and looking to take advantage of her. He also claimed that Charu is sweet and innocent and that he has three homes and decided to stay in Delhi. He even said that if he finds out who the culprit spreading the so-called rumors is, he would name and shame them publicly for the world to see. When he was earlier asked about split rumors he claimed that he was in a happy zone. “Just because I am in Delhi for my work, people are thinking that we have had a fight and are no more together – what a funny world we live in.”
Charu on the other hand stated that she didn’t want to comment on the matter. According to sources, the pair have unfollowed each other on their social media platforms and have even deleted pictures of each other off their social media pages. Some sources have claimed that the pair have even blocked each other off social media and that they apparently had compatibility issues from the start (2).
Charu’s Take On Mental Health
Charu shared her inputs on the topic of mental health after she was asked about the rise in celebrities opening up about their mental health. She spoke about how she is glad to see more and more people speaking up about the topic despite it being considered taboo. She added that those who seek therapy often have to face stigma as they are considered “paagal”. She spoke about how people should take their mental health seriously just as they would take a viral or a cold seriously. She spoke about how people should take any changes in their behavior seriously and seek treatment for it. Charu stated that Indian society has turned mental health into a taboo topic when it doesn’t need to be.
Amidst all the drama surrounding her relationship, Charu is keeping a brave front. The Mere Angne Mein actress shared a beautiful picture of herself on the occasion of Teej. However, fans were quick to note that this festival is usually celebrated by married women. Charu shared the image and captioned it to wish all the other women out there a Happy Hariyali Teej. She wished good tidings for all her followers and hoped they were in good health and were doing prosperously during these troubling times.
Filmi Family
Rajeev is the younger sibling of Miss Universe 1994 and popular Bollywood actress, Sushmita Sen. Sushmita had shared images from Charu and Rajeev’s grandiose wedding in Goa. Sushmita brought both her daughters, Rene and Alisah along with her boyfriend Rohman Shawl for the occasion. While Rajeev and Charu may have cleared their social media pages off, Sushmita still has all the pictures of her brother and his estranged wife up on her social media pages.
While it is upsetting to see that so much of Charu’s relationship is being aired out in public, as fans we must remember not to pass judgment on the basis of her personal life. Whether the pair decided to reconcile or split up, it should be done in the least problematic way possible. Charu’s thoughts on mental health are extremely insightful as well. Her take on how mental illness should be treated in the same way as any other physical illness is an important point that many of us should consider. If you or someone you know might be struggling with mental health-related issues, be sure to call up a helpline or reach out for help.
