Our skin is the largest organ of our body and also, the most vulnerable one. Our age, hormones, diet, sleep, peace of mind, and the products that we use can have a deep and long-lasting impact on our skin. Even external factors like air pollution, sun exposure, and quality of water that we wash with can affect the skin. Our skin protects our entire body and hence, we are obliged to protect it from damage. Healthy skin is beautiful and makes you confident. Like we said before, our age plays an important role in the health of our skin.

If you are in your twenties, you’re in a transition stage between puberty-related skin problems and aging. However, this is the golden years of your skin and if you know how to bust these skin problems, you can keep your skin clear and gorgeous throughout. Black and whiteheads can cause serious damage to the health of our skin. These are nothing but sebum (natural oil) that gets trapped inside our pores. When whiteheads grow bigger, their tip gets exposed to the outside air and it turns black. Taking steam and using a good scrub right after will help in removing them.

2. Acne

Argh! If only there was a spell that could keep acne away from forever. Acne is painful and stays in our memory for a long time, because they leave their marks on our face. The marks keep reminding us of the ugly, red, puss-filled bumps that invaded our skin. We get acquainted with acne in our early teens. They usually bid their farewell by the time you enter your twenties, but for some unlucky people, they stick around for a very long time.

If you are having acne problems in your twenties, it’s a good idea to consult a doctor. This is because acne can be a sign of hormonal imbalance and infections. Your doctor may give you tablets and creams, if necessary. To make sure you do all the right things to keep the acne under control it is important to keep your face clean, don’t touch your face too often, stop popping your pimples, and apply products that won’t clog your pores. Using DIY face masks with acne-fighting ingredients like neem, tulsi, apple cider vinegar, and tea tree oil.

3. Discoloration

Discoloration can happen due to many reasons including sun exposure. But, there can be other reasons like underlying health problems, which is why you should get your skin checked by a dermatologist. Try to stay in the shade and wear wide-brimmed hats as much as possible. Also, never skip your sunscreen while stepping out.

4. Spots

Spots can occur as a result of aging (yeah, you are) and this mostly occurs by the time you’re in your late twenties. No wonder why people hate turning thirty! Your skin takes a serious blow by the time you reach your late twenties. But, don’t worry, you can reduce the appearance of spots on your skin by consuming food items rich in antioxidants (like green tea).

Sun exposure can worsen spots and other signs of aging like wrinkles. This is why applying an efficient sunscreen only a daily basis is a non-negotiable. It doesn’t matter if you’re going to be indoors and it doesn’t matter if it’s a cloudy day. If the sun rises in the East, you’ve got to have sunscreen applied on your skin!

5. Dark Circles

Dark circles are pretty common if you don’t get enough sleep. They tend to worsen as you age, which is why it is important to take care of the area around your eyes. Dark circles can also get worse due to sun exposure. So, carry sunglasses when you go out and take good care of your eyes.

Get eight to nine hours of quality sleep every night. Use an under-eye mask or keep a cotton pad dipped in rose water while you relax. A chilled slice of cucumber will also do the trick!

6. Unwanted Hair Growth

Yes, they are gross! Especially, if they are on our face and people notice them easily. But, there is nothing to worry about because excessive growth of facial hair in women is pretty common. And since it happens due to certain hormonal fluctuations, you can get it treated. Your doctor might recommend laser treatments or will ask you to stick to your regular threading and waxing.

Even if you will have to deal with all these skin problems, being in your twenties is the best! Trust us, once you reach your thirties you will have to give a lot more attention to your skin.
