Crazy Things That Could Happen At A Wedding

Written by Saumya Gaur •

Have you heard of the famous Murphy’s Law? Well, it’s an adage of an unknown origin that states that, “Everything that can go wrong will go wrong.” And this is one adage which becomes all the more relevant when it comes to pulling off mega-events such as a wedding.

A wedding is a multi-tiered event with lots of mini-functions and rituals taking place consecutively that lead to the grand finale, which is, of course, the wedding ceremony. Those of us who are married or who have witnessed the weddings of close family members know the huge amount of effort that goes into making sure that everything goes off without a hitch.

But no wedding is complete without some drama, right? After all, it is an emotional occasion where both tempers and emotions run high. Plus, there is so much food and alcohol to indulge in. This creates a perfect storm where some unexpected happenings are bound to take place. To give you an insight into what I am talking about, we have compiled a list of the real-life crazy mess that has happened at weddings. Watch out for these crazy things:

1. The Bride’s Dress Might Be Too Risqué For Her Guests’ Taste

Well, almost all the weddings are about customizing the tradition in order to give it a unique personal edge, aren’t they? But this bride proved that it’s always a good idea to bounce off your wedding ideas with someone else to get an objective take.

This bride became the “butt” of all jokes when she turned up in a daring, bare-all wedding gown that gave her guests a visual of more than what they bargained for. The revealing back of her dress went far back, resulting in uncomfortable visuals for her wedding party (1).

Sure, it makes it easier to get out off when you get back to the hotel, but you wouldn’t want your parents to get a peek at your ample derrière, would you? We guess not.

2. Or She Might Sue Her Friend For Stealing Her “Thunder!”

The unofficial truth of all weddings — it’s all about the bride. She gets the star treatment because after all, she is the show stopper. But what if her bridesmaid happens to be a gorgeous pregnant woman with a charming personality and a handsome husband to boot? She steals the bride’s thunder! And hell hath no fury like a bride scorned.

Don’t believe us? It’s a real-life story where a woman demanded reimbursement for her wedding from a friend who she claimed stole all the attention from her on her big day on account of her ‘electric’ personality and ‘tall, handsome’ husband (2).

A case of a bridezilla? We think so!

3. The Wedding Feast Might Not Be Able To Suffice The Guests

We Indians know how important food is in a wedding, after all, 90 percent of us attend weddings just for that, don’t we? But what if you don’t want to spend beyond your means? Our advice would be to have a court wedding followed by a dinner with close friends at home because you certainly can’t invite a million guests and expect them to make do with a modest spread.

This couple’s wedding catering invited the ire of one of their guests who posted pictures of their wedding spread online calling it “pathetic.” The feast that included ‘plastic’ cheese, cubed melons, cut-up oranges with labels on along with celery and carrots was likened to children’s birthday party catering by many (3).

Too harsh? Maybe, but there’s a life lesson for all prospective couples out there, don’t skimp on the catering budget for the wedding if you don’t want your wedding to go viral for the wrong reasons!

4. There Might Be An Unexpected Visit From The Ex Of The Groom

We all have a past, but it’s our history. What happens when your past and future collide? Fireworks and apparently, viral content. Recently, a Chinese couple’s wedding became viral on the cyberworld when one of their guests turned out to be the bridegroom’s ex-girlfriend.

Think of every Hollywood rom-com ever, it was a scene straight out of them as it was revealed that the girlfriend had turned up in a wedding gown to foil the wedding. She begged the groom to take her back much to the chagrin of the bride standing there on the altar. However, the groom had the eyes only for his bride and he rejected the pleas of his ex (4). So, if you are moving on with your life, make sure your ex knows that well in advance.

Crazy, right? And here you thought that pleasing those million relatives was the only difficult task in a wedding. Well, there are a million ways that a wedding could go wrong, we just captured the craziest and entertaining ones! All in all, remember that a wedding is a celebration of a couple’s love and a new beginning, and as long as that sentiment is there, rest all falls into place.
