Diet Secrets Of 5 Bollywood Divas

The winter is on the wane and festive season is well on its way out. For those of us who were keen on ending the year with a bang and beginning the new one on a repenting note, this has meant only one thing – now is the time to focus on health. Between Christmas, New Year and the wedding season, almost all of us have been indulging ourselves in food for almost a month now and it’s time we go for a detox. What do you think?

Unfortunately, not all of us are cracked to be calorie conscious and nor is it possible for all of us to keep a meticulous journal to keep a track of our calorific intake. So what can we do to get rid of these extra kilos? Well, for one thing, we can find some inspiration in Bollywood. Our indigenous film industry is home to a bevy of stars whose statuesque beauty can even put Aphrodite to shame. Keeping this in mind we decided to rifle through the many reports and interviews given by a few Bollywood divas to gather their dieting secrets to put us on the right track and curb our calorie intake and lose those extra kilos in a healthy manner.

1. Deepika Padukone

Though this statuesque beauty is blessed with an athletic figure, she certainly puts in a lot of effort to maintain it. Deepika has managed to do this by following a strict regimen of exercise, diet and leading a disciplined life. She makes sure that she has a healthy diet consisting of a lot of seasonal fruits and vegetables which provide her with the required dietary fiber, protein, and other nutrients. To get a dose of omega-3 fatty acids, she likes to have grilled fish in her lunch.She lays emphasis on hydration and likes to keep hydrated by drinking water, smoothies, natural juices, and coconut water. She has her meals at regular times and also avoids having non-veg and rice at night (1).

2. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Even after facing a lot of flak for gaining weight during her pregnancy, this green-eyed beauty never faltered when it came to leading a healthy lifestyle. Determined to do so in a healthy manner, she was seen in a much leaner avatar soon after, thanks to her healthy diet.She never skips breakfast and begins her day by having a glass of warm water with honey and lemon in it. The actress prefers to have small, frequent meals throughout the day consisting of ghar ka khana. Instead of snacking on junk food she prefers to snack on fresh fruits. She also prefers to eat brown rice instead of white (2).

3. Shilpa Shetty Kundra

That she has an enviable figure is not something that can be contested. But not many know that she follows a dedicated regimen to achieve those results. She starts her day by having one and a half glass of lukewarm water and follows it by having 4 drops of Noni juice, which acts as an energy booster for her. She follows it up with a breakfast composed of whole grains such as muesli and fruits.

She also includes lots of good fats in her diet, with ghee being a staple ingredient of her food. She also doesn’t have any carbs in the evening and always has her dinner by 7.30 pm and no later than that (3). That, my friends, is called dedication!

4. Malaika Arora

When it comes to fitness, there’s few who can match the enthusiasm and dedication of this yummy mummy. She begins her day by doing a headstand and having a glass of hot water with lemon and honey, as she believes doing so helps in flushing out the toxins from the body. She also includes superfoods in her diet and carries a bag of almonds with her everywhere to snack on them.

She also eats food rich in Omega 3 fatty acids to keep her hair and skin glowing and also takes them in the form of supplements (4).

5. Kareena Kapoor Khan

This list wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t mention this diva. This Bollywood glamazon is a desi at heart and truly believes in the goodness of desi ghee. One of her favorite dishes is dal, chawal with a spoonful of ghee in it (5). Post her pregnancy, she has been focussing efforts on her recovery and sticking to a diet of ghar ka khana. In an interview, she said a typical lunch for her consists of karela subzi, a single roti, a bowl of rice, and soup (6). She combines this diet with daily workouts to achieve her envious frame.
