The world was left stunned after the news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely death was reported. The actor had been struggling with mental health issues and took his own life on 14th June. His passing sparked a major debate on the film industry and nepotism and many of his long-time fans were left with nothing but the hope of seeing their favorite actor on-screen one last time. Sushant had been working on a film called Dil Bechara which is a Hindi remake of the popular John Green book, The Fault In Our Stars. Sushant stars alongside newbie Sanjana Sanghi in this emotional rollercoaster of a film. So let’s take a look at Dil Bechara and how the acting fraternity reacted to the release of Sushant’s last piece of work.

The Trailer That Made Us All Emotional

For many of us who’ve read the original, we know Sushant’s character is going to a be a quirky exuberant personality and the trailer proves nothing but. You can see Sushant’s versatility shine through as he channels the lead male role of Manny and compliments Sanjana’s character of Kizie well. We get to see Sushant take on a young college student’s role and slowly grow closer to Kizie over the course of the trailer. Like the Hollywood movie, Dil Bechara is about two young people falling in love after meeting at a cancer support group.

Many fans also pointed out how emotional a dialogue in the trailer in particular was. “Janam kab lena hai aur marna kab hai, hum decide nahi kar sakte hain. Par jeena kaise hai wo hum decide kar sakte hain,” Sushant’s character says. Many fans and celebrities have shared the trailer online and spoken about how they would get to see Sushant Singh Rajput, “One last time”. The film also features a short cameo by Saif Ali Khan and will be released on online streaming channels on the 24th of July.

As of today, the trailer for Dil Bechara has raked in around 23 million views in just 24 hours of its release! It also emerged as the most liked trailer on Youtube ever with around 5.2 million likes. This beats Avenger’s Infinity War and Endgame that sat at around 3.2 million and 2.9 million respectively within 24 hours of their release.

As the trailer went live, people on social media reacted emotionally to the performance and shared screenshots on social media apps. People were absolutely enamored by the actor’s quirky introduction and how easy it was for Sushant to slip into the role. Here are some fan reactions to the trailer.

The film industry has been under the radar in recent times. With the debates about nepotism sparking up after Sushant’s passing, many have put those in the industry under the scanner. Sara Ali Khan made her debut in the film industry with the film Kedarnath. She starred alongside Sushant in the film. The young starlet shared the trailer of Dil Bechara on her Instagram account and wrote “Sushant Singh Rajput. One last time #DilBechara”

Singer Armaan Malik even took to his Twitter to announce the delay of the release of his song out of respect for Sushant Singh Rajput and his fans. He wrote, “ “Watching Sushant on and off screen always made me smile. His loss continues to feel personal. Tomorrow, when we watch the trailer of #DilBechara, let us celebrate his boundless talent, his enthusiasm, and more importantly HIM.”

Priyanka Chopra too shared the trailer of the film on her Twitter account and wrote “One Last Time”. Like Sushant, Priyanka too was an outsider in Bollywood and started her career as a model and former Miss World winner.

While it is going to be extremely bittersweet and heart-wrenching to watch one of our favorite actors in his last performance, as fans of Sushant, we must try to watch him in action one last time. After all, the actor was known for loving his fans deeply and trying to share little tidbits of his life with all his followers on social media.
