Each New Year brings an opportunity to achieve something new and make it better than the previous year. Much before the New Year dawns on us, most of us list out our resolutions and ponder over them a zillion times. Save yourself the horror. Here’s a quick list of mistakes you would totally want to avoid this year – better safe than sorry!
1. Self-Doubt
We all have an innate wisdom that tells us what to do and what not to do in our lives. Often, it so happens that instead of listening to our inner voice, we tend to give more importance to what others say and think. This year, don’t let others push you in a direction you wouldn’t want to travel. Be on your own, gather courage, and listen to your inner voice.
2. Unacknowledged Self
It is good to help others and consider others’ needs in any situation. But, it is equally important to acknowledge your choices. Making strong headed decisions for yourself just shows how much you respect yourself. All unhappiness and frustration arise from low self-esteem and not acknowledging your strengths.
3. Sticking To Your Comfort Zone
Why be stuck to a dedicated comfort zone? Enjoying the security of steady income, completing regular tasks, interacting with the same set of people – life has more to it than these boring routine to-dos. Let’s spend this year in self-exploration. Break out of your comfort zone and try something new. And don’t make a vow now, you have done that enough. Just act!
4. Unexplored Uniqueness
All of us may have a few things in common – hobbies, vocation, lifestyle, thought patterns, and so on. But what’s with the comparison? Who gives you the right to demean yourself? And, what for? You are you. And that’s the most beautiful part. This year, let’s free ourselves of all comparisons – let’s celebrate ‘Youniqueness’.
5. No Value For Your Own Time
Giving time to yourself is the greatest investments ever. If you are constantly trapped with people who take you for granted and do not value you, change gears and move on. Set your priorities right, and spend time on every relationship accordingly. Your days are numbered, remember?
Life doesn’t come with a blueprint. A better life is created by learning from our mistakes and consciously trying to make a change. Let’s make this New Year the one we always wished it to be. Happy New Year!
