7 Easy To Make Microwave Recipes While Working From Home

Working from home and isolating within our homes has turned all of us into home chefs looking for the quickest, most effective, and cost-efficient way to feed ourselves. Since many of us are trying our best to avoid eating outside food and not pack on too many calories, we definitely get cravings. Whether you are a beginner in the kitchen or have to whip up an elaborate but quick meal for your midnight cravings, here are seven super easy recipes you can try out. If you want to save time on cooking, then your trusty microwave can come to your rescue and help you out when you have a short amount of time. So here are seven easy microwave recipes you can try while working from home:

Who doesn’t love a good ole’ mac ‘n’ cheese? Mac ‘n’ cheese is a signature comfort food for many out there and requires significantly less prep time. All you need is your trusty microwave and some patience. You will need a hundred grams of dried macaroni, one cup of water, half a cup of shredded cheese, half a cup of milk, and salt according to your own tastes. To make the mac n’ cheese, start by boiling the pasta and continue till it is soft and cooked. Then add milk and cheese and cook it with the softened pasta for about thirty seconds. Keep stirring it to make a nice smooth and blended sauce. Finally, complete the dish with some oregano and chili flakes.

Chocolate fudge is another favorite comfort food among most people, especially for women going through that time of the month. All you really need is a quarter cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, fourteen ounces of sweetened condensed milk, one tablespoon of butter, and two tablespoons of chopped walnuts. Pour the chocolate chips, butter, and sweetened condensed milk into a large bowl that’s microwave-friendly. Heat the dish in the microwave until the chocolate chips have melted. Stir the mixture once or twice and stir in nuts as desired. Pour this into a well-greased plate and refrigerate until it is set.

Chocolate chip cookies are the perfect tea-time snack. They are easy to make, quick, and satisfy your hunger pangs excellently. To make these delicious cookies, you need a cup of flour, one teaspoon of vinegar, a quartered cup of milk, half a cup of sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla essence. To prepare the dough, you need to mix the four with vinegar, butter, vanilla extract, and sugar. Next, roll the cookie dough into ten small balls and flatter them with a fork. Place these on a greased-up baking tray and microwave for about two and a half minutes. Allow the mixture to cook for three minutes. Finally, add the chocolate chips to the cookie dough.

4. Gajar Ka Halwa (30 Mins)

Everyone is a fan of this healthy, delicious, and easy Indian dessert. The microwave can be just the thing you need to prepare this fun halwa snack. You need two cups of grated carrot, two cups of milk, one tablespoon of ghee, one tablespoon of slit and sliced almonds, a half cup of sugar, four tablespoons of grated khoya, one tablespoon of raisins, and two pieces of elaichi. Melt the ghee in a bowl that is microwave friendly for about thirty seconds. Add the grated carrots and microwave for about five minutes. After that, add the sugar, milk, and dried whole milk to the same bowl — microwave this mixture for about ten minutes. Keep pausing the microwave to stir the mixture. Finally, sprinkle the crushed cardamom powder, almonds, raisins, and microwave it once again for about two minutes.

5. Chocolate Cake (25 Mins)

Chocolate cake is that decadent instant mood-uplifted that we all need while we are working from home. You need a quarter cup of butter, half a cup of flour, two tablespoons of sugar, one tablespoon of cocoa powder, half a teaspoon of vanilla essence, one egg, a quarter teaspoon of baking powder, half a cup of milk, and a pinch of salt. To prepare the cake, add sugar, vanilla extract, egg, and add milk to prepare a mix. Then add the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa and whip it to form a smooth mixture. Put this mixture in a greased mug or bowl and leave it to cook in the microwave for three to four minutes. Once the mixture turns bouncy, let it cool and then turn the mug upside down and take it out.

6. Caramel Custard (25 Mins)

This super delicious, pudding-like dish is popular all across the country. It is especially popular in coastal states and former Portuguese colonies like Goa. To make some yummy caramel custard, you need a quarter cup of sugar, two tablespoons of water, four eggs, two teaspoons of cornflour, two cups of milk, and one teaspoon of vanilla essence. Place the sugar and the water in a dish and cook it uncovered for about two minutes. Stir this well and then cook it for a further three minutes or until the mixture starts to turn dark brown; keep this aside. Next, beat the four eggs, vanilla sugar, and cornflour together. Add the milk into the mixture and beat it with an egg scrambler. Pour this into a dish and cook it uncovered for about twelve minutes. Then cook the dish, un-mold it, and serve it to your guests.

7. Paneer Tikka (40 Mins)

Paneer Tikka is a much-loved dish all across the country and super easy to prepare. It’s the perfect starter for any dinner party, and here’s a quick way to whip it up. To prepare the delicious appetizer, you will need a kilogram of paneer cubes chopped into squares, two teaspoons of garlic paste, one teaspoon of chaat masala, two tablespoons of ginger paste, two teaspoons of chili powder, one teaspoon of black pepper powder, one tablespoon of salt and four tablespoons of yogurt. First, mix all of the masalas in yogurt and leave it to marinate for about half an hour. Next, place a flat greased-up plate in the microwave and arrange the paneer pieces along the dish and cook it uncovered for about four minutes. Make sure that you have evenly brushed the pieces with some oil. Then turn them over and cook again for another four minutes. Serve this with pudina chutney.
