It’s no secret that the internet is the future of how we consume our media. Thanks to the ongoing pandemic, the world has shifted to relying on the online world for their daily entertainment needs. Sushmita Sen fans were overjoyed to hear the news of the actress making her comeback in a web series. The actress plays the role of a family matriarch who has to take on the role of the breadwinner and handle her late husband’s illegal business while still raising her impressionable young children. The show is a gripping crime drama and a must-watch for lovers of the genre. It’s available for streaming on the Disney + Hotstar streaming service. Sushmita Sen is back in the entertainment world after she took a long hiatus. During an interview, the actress admitted that she took a break because she wanted to raise her two daughters (1).

2. Jimmy Shergill In Your Honor

Jimmy Shergill shines as he plays the father of a boy who gets involved in a hit-and-run accident. The actor plays a famed judge and the storyline covers how he tries to get rid of any evidence linking his son to the crime. The actor channels the role of Judge Bishan Khosla, who is put in a scenario where he has to choose between his duty and family.

3. Arshad Warsi in Asur

Arshad Warsi stars as forensic expert Dhananjay Rajpoot in this psychological crime thriller. The thriller revolves around Dhananjay and his partner, Nikhil Nair investigating a serial killer who chops off the index fingers of his victims. This gripping series also makes use of mythological elements in the show.

4. Saif Ali Khan In Sacred Games

Saif Ali Khan plays the role of a hard-working but mentally disturbed cop, Sartaj Singh who is in a race against time to stop the destruction of his city. The character somehow gets involved in a global conspiracy to save his city. Nawazuddin Siddiqui too stars in this show as the menacing gangster Ganesh Gaitonde. The character plays a perfect antagonist to Saif’s Sartaj and the pair ensue on a game of cat and mouse.

5. Dia Mirza In Kaafir

Dia Mirza plays the lead protagonist in this heart-wrenching tale about the brutality of what’s currently happening in Kashmir. The story is inspired by the border conflict in Kashmir and showcased a side of the actress that many have not observed.

6. Manoj Bajpayee In The Family Man

Manoj Bajpayee channels the role of Srikant Tiwari and deals with his role in the fictional Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC) where he works as a senior analyst. It also deals with his slightly troubled family life and other daily workings of life. The show is said to be inspired by real-life newspaper articles.

7. Shefali Shah in Delhi Crime

Shefali Shah plays the role of a Vartika Chaturvedi, the district commissioner of Delhi Police. The series is loosely based on the horrific 2012 Delhi gang-rape that caused shockwaves across not just the country, but the whole world. Vartika is a powerful presence on the show and Shefali’s sheer confidence and range of emotions in the show is just mesmerizing to watch. The actress truly makes us feel like we’re in the same room as her.

8. R Madhavan in Breathe

R Madhavan shines bright in this stunning debut. The actor plays the role of a father named Denzil aka “Danny” Mascarenhas who will resort to doing anything in order to save his son’s life. His slow descent from being a father desperate to save his son to a stone-cold and calculated killer is a true delight to watch and is probably one of Madhavan’s best performances to date.

While theaters are much missed by most of us, the safest thing we can do is stay at home, isolate ourselves, and catch up on some good shows.
