The chart-topping hit was sung by Arijit Singh and penned and composed by notable lyricists Amitabh Bhattacharya and Pritam respectively. The melancholic love song is all about love that is unrequited and its impact on those involved, and was written for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the lead character in the film, praised the song and called it the best song he has ever acted in!

Luka Chuppi is an emotional ode to the relationship between a mother and her son. In Rang De Basanti, Waheeda Rehman plays the mother of a fighter pilot who dies while on duty. The melodious piece itself was composed by A.R. Rehman and sung by veteran legend, Lata Mangeshkar. The emotional song is about a mother playing hide and seek with her son only to realize her son is gone away forever. The songs Khalbali and Luka Chuppi from the movie’s soundtrack were considered for the Academy Award for Best Original Song nomination.

It is about finding the person they can come home to everyday. The emotional song even makes the characters ponder whether a world like that even exists and if they’ll ever manage to find it. The movie, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na captures the essence of youth and young love beautifully and we’re left with achy hearts after hearing this song.

Lag Jaa Gale is a melodious masterpiece that was written for a movie Woh Kaun Thi? This is probably a song from your parents’ collection and you remember it because they played it on repeat. This lovely song talks about a woman asking her lover to embrace her because she feels like they will never see each other again. The song is considered one of Lata Mangeshkar’s most memorable tracks and the singer too has admitted that it is one of her absolute favorites.
