Bollywood Ex-Wives Who Chose Not To Get Remarried After Divorce While Their Husbands Remarried

Marriages are not all rainbows and roses. Although love is an essential element of marriage, it is not enough. A marriage requires a lifetime of commitment, adjustments, sacrifices, and compromises. There are several reasons that can cause a marriage to fail. It could be because either one of the partners is unhappy or treated badly or sometimes, things just do not work out simply because they lead different lives. Whatever the reason is, some marriages do not work out and end up in divorce. While some of them choose to remarry when they find a partner more suited for them, some others choose to stay single because they are happy that way. Bollywood has seen many couples break up and remarry or break up and stay single. Here are a few celebrity ex-wives who chose to stay single after divorce from their husbands in Bollywood.

1. Reena Dutta

Brace yourselves for this one, Aamir Khan wrote a love letter to Reena Dutta with blood. Yes, you read that right – with BLOOD! The two of them eloped and got married in 1986 but after 16 years they got a divorce in 2002. They have two children together and while Aamir Khan remarried Kiran, Reena stayed single and took care of their two children, Ira and Junaid.

2. Karisma Kapoor

Sister of Bollywood’s Bebo, Karisma Kapoor was married to Sanjay Kapur, a Delhi-based businessman. The two of them had a tragic marriage and 11 years later, they were divorced. They have two children together who are often seen with Taimur, son of Saif and Kareena. The divorce battle was quite ugly and the two of them split on bad terms. Sanjay Kapur later married Priya Sachdev while Karishma remained a single mother of two. The actress was last seen dating a pharmaceutical company’s CEO, Sandeep Toshniwal.

3. Honey Irani

Mother of Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar, Honey Irani is known for writing Koi… Mil Gaya. She was married to writer Javed Akhtar. Their marriage lasted for a brief period of 6 years after which they got divorced in 1978. Later on, Javed Akhtar married the talented actress Shabana Azmi. Honey Irani stayed single and did not remarry.

4. Nikki Bedi

Nikki Bedi is a British radio and television presenter. She was married to veteran actor Kabir Bedi from 1992 to 2005. They separated amicably after their divorce and Nikki Bedi retained her husband’s last name. However, she has stayed single after their divorce to date. But it is not the same with her ex-husband Kabir Bedi. Since 2005, he has remarried more than once. His fourth wedding took place in 2016 where he married his best friend and long time partner Parveen Dusanj.

5. Aarti Bajaj

Known for editing movies like Jab We Met, Udaan and Paan Singh Tomar, Aarti Bajaj is an Indian film editor who is one of the best in the industry right now. She was in a long term relationship with director Anurag Kashyap for 9 years before getting hitched. They have a daughter together but sadly, they separated in 2009. After the divorce, in 2011 Anurag Kashyap married Kalki Koechlin while Aarti remained single. Kalki and Anurag got a divorce in 2015 but the two of them share a cordial relationship.

6. Amrita Singh

Amrita Singh is the mother of Sara Ali Khan and the ex-wife of Saif Ali Khan. They got married in 1991 when Saif was very young. They shared a marriage for 13 years and had two children. In 2004, the couple got a divorce and Saif started dating. While Amrita Singh stayed single, Saif tied the knot with long-time girlfriend, Kareena Kapoor in 2012. They have a son together, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, who is just 3 years old and already a celeb baby.

7. Jennifer Winget

Television actress Jennifer Winget was married to Karan Singh Grover. He was previously married to Shraddha Nigam and then married Jennifer in 2012. However, his second marriage did not last either and this hot couple of Indian television got a divorce in a short span of 2 years. Karan is currently married to Bipasha Basu which is his third marriage. You know what they say, third time’s a charm. While his first wife Shraddha remarried, Jennifer Winget has not yet tied the knot.

There are a lot of reasons why marriages fail and it is up to the couple to decide if it is working or not. While it is easy to sit on the sidelines and judge people for such things, the wise thing to do is let them live their personal lives rather than interfering in them. Some people find love more than once and for some others, they choose to stay single after getting married once while others simply choose not to get legally tied down again.
