International Dogs Day 2025: Let’s Meet The Furry Pooches Of 9 Bollywood Celebrities

Dog’s aren’t just man’s best friend. For those of us who’ve had dogs in our lives, they eventually become an integral part of our families. Dogs have a way of forming a bond with their owner that cannot be found anywhere else. This is probably why so many people choose to adopt pets over having children these days (who can blame them?) (1). Many Bollywood celebrities are known for raising awareness about the adoption of strays. Actors like John Abraham have been extremely vocal for animal rights and taking care of strays. This International Dogs Day, let’s take a look at nine Bollywood celebrities who love showing off their pooches for the world to see.

1. Amitabh Bachchan

Big B was gifted his precious friend, Shanouk, in 2006. The happy pooch had been featured in many posts on Amitabh’s blog, and he was extremely attached to his pet. During an interview, he spoke about how Shanouk was very fond of his son, Abhishek, and would love spending time with him. Amitabh had also spoken about how Shanouk had gotten a little jealous when Aaradhya Bachchan was born. Unfortunately for the family, they had to bid a tearful farewell to their favorite family pet when he passed away in early 2017. Amitabh took to his Twitter to share the news with his followers.

2. Priyanka Chopra

When Nick Jonas got involved with Bollywood Superstar Priyanka Chopra, he also took on the responsibility of being a pet parent to her little dog, Diana. After the pair tied the knot in a glorious wedding ceremony in 2018, they decided to expand their family and adopt two more pooches. The couple picked up a baby German Shepherd named Gino and later added a cute little husky called Panda to their fur babies. Both Priyanka and Nick are total animal lovers and have even created Instagram pages for the three dogs.

3. Twinkle Khanna

Twinkle is a huge animal lover and has many pooches, including a Beagle and a German Shepherd. She often shares funny videos and pictures of her furry friends on Instagram. True to her moniker, Mrs. Funnybones, Twinkle adds hilarious captions to the pictures too. Twinkle had recently taken to Instagram to debunk myths that one can catch coronavirus from their indoor pets. The actress ended her caption with, “A cuddle a day keeps the doctor and the vet away, so do cuddle away.”

4. Vidyut Jammwal

Vidyut is another celebrity who absolutely adores his beagle. The ridiculously chiseled and handsome actor shared an adorable picture of him lounging on a pool float with his precious pal. He features his dog in quite a few of his social media posts, and we have to admit it’s pretty freakin’ adorable.

5. Sidharth Malhotra

Sidharth and his buddy Oscar are a pair made in heaven. Oscar always accompanies Sidharth on his runs and even his gym sessions, and Sidharth’s Instagram is flooded with images of the pooch. The Student Of The Year actor has been self-quarantining with his dog and shares pictures of his furry friend blissfully dozing away since he can’t go out as often these days.

6. Ajay Devgn

Ajay is the doting fur dad of two German Shepherds. The adorable pair are called Koko and Kiki and Ajay has admitted that they are very chilled out dogs. He spoke about how his dogs just lie by his side every morning while he reads the paper, and it’s a great start to his day. However, Ajay wasn’t a true dog lover until 2010. He first adopted a Bull Mastiff and named him Sher Khan. Unfortunately for him, the dog passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Rather than feeling bad, Ajay went ahead and adopted Koko and Kiki after that.

7. Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik has a cute little Golden Retriever named Zane. The actor recently shared an adorable snap of himself training in the gym with his fur buddy, Zane, and added a hilarious caption. He wrote, “Zane wants to tell you to stay home like his daddy.” Hrithik and his ex-wife Suzanne Khan were quarantined with their children to maintain a sense of normalcy during the government imposed lockdown.

8. Suniel Shetty

Suniel Shetty is a major dog lover and has five dogs! Suneil has three Great Danes named, Tom, Troy, and Duke, a Husky named Brody, and a cute little pug named Chelsea. He often shares pictures of his large fur family on social media, and his daughter, actress Athiya Shetty is very attached to his pets as well.

9. John Abraham

John Abraham shares an adorable relationship with his Doberman. The actor is very open about his love for large dogs and has shared images of dogs with human babies and spoken about how loyal and loving they can be. He also likes to raise awareness about animal shelters and organizations that care for stray animals’ welfare. The actor even quit eating meat after discovering the cruelty that often occurs in the meat industry.

At the end of the day, you have to take care of a dog to understand what goes into being a dog parent. While many of us might not have the privilege or time to raise our own pets, we should try helping out as much as we can and feeding strays in our spare time.
