With all the news and information circulating regarding our health, we are learning how to boost up our well-being and quality of life almost every single day. The number of avenues from which we are now able to access information has also increased dramatically.

An essential lesson we learn from this information influx is that our well-being and quality of health depends not only on what we consume but also on how we flush out toxins. Our environment is increasingly polluted and unfortunately, toxins do contaminate many aspects of our lives. So although we may be eating really healthy, the body can still accumulate toxins from the environment.

The Importance Of A Liver Cleanse

Exercising daily is definitely a way of detoxifying the body, but a liver-cleanse might be the best way to get started on an overall cleanse and detox regime.
When it comes to organs, your liver is the workhorse. A liver cleanse is the most solid foundation for an all-round detox because it is through the liver that the body purges toxins. In fact, the liver also produces bile, which is critical to breaking down the fat in our bodies (1).

When the liver is not functioning properly or not purging toxins, the accumulation of fat in our bodies cannot be processed possibly resulting in a diagnosis of fatty liver disease.  One is diagnosed with fatty liver disease when fat constitutes more than 5% of your liver’s weight (2).

In fact, liver cleansing is one of the reasons that many religions prescribe fasting. It is a way of ridding your body from accumulated toxins before you embark on a major religious festival or prayer season. The purging of toxins also helps with spiritual and emotional purification, a reason many religions club fasting and prayer seasons together.

Want to get started on flushing out that toxic liver fat but don’t know how? Worry not! You do not have to go through an over-priced juice detox. We have found a recipe that works like magic. So cancel all your plans and relax into a detox weekend.

Liver Detox Drink Recipe

The juice recipe that we have found for you not only cleanses your liver but also targets six other critical functions at the same time (finally, an activity that promotes multi-tasking again!)

This juice will improve your blood circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, cleanse your colon, strengthen and regulate your immune system (which is the brain centre for your organs), and boost your cardiovascular system.

Without much ado, here is the recipe!

Morning Juice Ingredients:

  • Tomatoes x 2
  • Garlic cloves x 4
  • Lemon juice x 6 tbsp.
  • Filtered water x 1.5 cups

Have the morning juice an hour before breakfast on an empty stomach. And if you take medications, do consult your doctor on whether such a juice is acceptable with your prescription, and if you are allowed to wait out the gap until breakfast. If you are diabetic, ask your doctor or a reputed nutritionist about a replacement for the maple syrup.

Night Juice Ingredients

  • Organic ginger root x 1 piece
  • Maple syrup x 1 tbsp.
  • Lemon juice x 2 tbsp.
  • Filtered water x 1.5 cups

The night juice should ideally be consumed a couple of hours after dinner, but also a couple of hours before you go to sleep. This is to help your body use the remaining energy to process the food and the juice and let you sleep peacefully through the night. You may want to rearrange your schedule to accommodate an earlier dinner so that you will still be able to consume the juice.

Our Advice

As the purpose is to cleanse, we recommend that you use only organic ingredients for the juices. Freshly squeeze the lemons for every glass of juice, and filter the water before use. This regime can be followed for up to 2 days.

We do not recommend that you replace your regular breakfast and dinner with this juice, instead try to lower the quantity if possible. Perhaps you could have plain water as a beverage with your breakfast and dinner instead of a coffee, tea, soda or another juice.

Our bodies do talk to us in a multitude of ways. First, it whispers through trouble in sleeping. Then the talk may graduate to some weight loss or weight gain, minor and treatable illnesses. But later, the big road bumps like hospitalization and words such as diagnosis and pathology make an appearance.

That is exactly the reason why you need to listen to what your body has to say. It might be worth cooking at least one meal a day at home than eating a kale salad from a plastic bag. This cleanse is a great way to start. Take good care of your liver, and your heart, and your lungs, and that beautiful body and that amazing life. Starting today!
