9 Foods With More Sugar Than A Doughnut

Written by StyleCraze  •

Yes, that’s right! If your idea of a perfect diet is successfully steering clear of the wondrous temptations of sweets, plum cakes, and doughnuts, girl, I have news for you. The sugar you are running away from has more ways to get you than you imagine! Don’t just take my word for it, though. Read on and find out for yourself.

1. Cola Drinks

A tin of coca cola has anywhere between 26.4 to 39 grams of sugar. That is about two and a half doughnuts. And don’t even get me started on the “sweeter” Pepsi! The “diet” in the diet version is, well, only in the name. Still feel good about giving up wine and alcohol in the name of health choices?

2. Processed Fruit Drinks

Start a day with a good jog followed by a nice big glass of canned orange juice. If that is your routine, NEWS FLASH! 8 ounces of orange juice has about 22 grams of sugar. That is equal to two whole doughnuts, only way more expensive. What do you have to say to that?

3. Oatmeal And Raisins

Yes, the first “health choice” you made when you found out that little black dress wasn’t that pretty on you anymore, is anything but healthy. That is ten grams of sugar right there every morning disguised as tasteless, bland oatmeal in a bowl. And you thought chucking that single doughnut in the morning was harming you!

4. Muffins – Plain, Chocolate, All Kinds

You walk past a bakery and salivate looking through the window. You enter promising yourself “just a look-see”. When, eventually, desire takes over determination, you spot the cute little red velvet cake – shiny and petite. What harm could that do you, right? 45 grams of sugar – that’s the harm. Could have just had those five glazed doughnuts instead, right?

5. A Tall Cup Of Latte

So you are busy working, meeting after meeting lined up, and you need to recharge. Between a sugar rush and a caffeine high, you opt for a grand cup of latte. Energized at no cost to the diet, right? Wrong. That is 17 grams of sugar in a coffee-laced glass of caffeine. Not to mention acidity and heartburn.

6. Thai Chicken Salad – The Secret Assassin

Out for a dinner treat, everyone orders the entire menu, while you stick to your guns and order in a chicken salad – greens and proteins, all in a bowl of diet nirvana. Not in a gazillion years, my love! That bowl of salad right there is 45 grams of sugar. That is four and a half doughnuts you thought you were escaping! Yes, question your life choices, now.

7. Frozen Yogurt

It’s midnight, and all you can think of is a sumptuous bowl of death by chocolate and warm mango-filled doughnuts. You settle for the bland cup of frozen yogurt, patting yourself on the back. What you ate is about 15 grams of sugar, or one and three-fourths of a doughnut. Go on, a face palm is in order.

8. Energy Bars Too, Yes

That look of self-congratulatory satisfaction of having resisted a plate of potatoes wedges at tea break and having a protein bar instead? Wipe that off this instant! What you just opted for is about 13 grams of sugar or one and a fourth of a doughnut. Still looking smug?

9. A Bowl Of Tropical Fruits

How do you announce to the world your intentions of going size zero? Why, walking around everywhere with a bowl of fruits, of course. No sweets, no oil, no carbs, just good old nature doing its work. Oh, you, poor you! What you are actually strutting around is 20 grams of pure sugar in its most unbreakable form that is. Two doughnuts would, at least, have made you less mean, isn’t it?

Have we questioned your life choices enough? Sugar is a villain that silently stalks you wherever you go. There is no hiding from it, and the sooner you realize it, the faster you will get into your dream shape. Also, indulging in sinful doughnut once in a while is not as scary as you think.
