Movie Stars Who Have Donated Generously To Support India’s Fight Against COVID-19

The entertainment industry has taken a massive hit after the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus. Sets have had to shut and many of the people working on them had to return home after the virus threatened their health and safety. Many famous celebrities have come forward to donate a sum of their earnings to various organizations and NGOs. Others have also donated meals through non-profits and even personally helped in their efforts. These celebrities show us that money doesn’t always matter and have helped people in any way they could. Read on to know how they lent a helping hand:

1. Shah Rukh Khan & Gauri Khan

On the 2nd of April, Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan stepped forward to donate all their business centers to the fight against COVID. This includes the offices of Meer Foundation, Red Chillies Entertainment, Red Chillies VFX and Kolkata Knight Riders. An excerpt from the actor’s Instagram reads, “Let’s just make sure we all do our little bit to look after each other. India and all Indians are One Family. Stay Safe Stay Healthy and don’t forget to pray.”

The veteran actor who is known for being extremely vocal about issues that matter, took steps to ensure that all those under his employment were taken care of. The actor ensured he paid all those working at his production house, foundation, farm, and his own house were paid their salaries in advance. The actor also requested that each one of us should help the needy and those around us as much as we can.

3. Kareena Kapoor And Saif Ali Khan

The couple, popularly known as Saifeena, decided to pledge their support and contribute to three different humanitarian organizations. The talented couple donated their money to Give India, UNICEF, and International Association for Human Values (IAHV). They shared a post about the same on Instagram and urged their fans to help out in the best way they could. Kareena ended her post with the words, “United we stand.”

Popular Telugu actor, Nithiin decided to donate a sum of 20 lakhs to the CM’s relief fund of both Andhra Pradesh as well as Telangana during this time of crisis. Nithiin’s latest film Bheeshma performed extremely well at the box office and the actor has been in high spirits since.

5. Priyanka Chopra And Nick Jonas

The power couple has donated an undisclosed amount of money to various organizations like UNICEF, Doctors without borders, Goonj, and a few others. The actress took to her Instagram to encourage more people to come forward and donate money if they are able to. She spoke about how there are many people across the world who need our help and support at this time. She stated that it was important for both her and her husband Nick to donate money to those who come from lower economic backgrounds as well as helping doctors and first responders during this time of crisis.

6. Dr Rajasekhar

Besides acting in films, Dr Rajasekar has always participated in raising money for charity efforts. When he was younger, he established a trust called the Rajasekhar Charitable Trust and has been extremely philanthropic in his endeavors. During these trying times, Dr Rajasekar and his wife, Jeevitha, have stepped forward to offer as much help as they can. The pair have made active efforts to donate essential items to lower income communities and artisans working in Tollywood.

7. Sara Ali Khan

Like her father and step-mother, Sara too has donated towards the fight against COVID. The actress shared a post on Instagram where she mentioned that seh donated a sum of her earnings to both the PM CARES Fund as well as the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the state of Maharashtra. The Love Aaj Kal actress penned a note to her followers and stated, “ I urge everyone to do their bit in helping the people of our country. Every contribution counts, and solidarity is our only hope against this pandemic.”

Besides acting in a short film to raise awareness about the concept of social distancing, the legendary actor has also donated around 50 lakh rupees to Film Employees Federation of South India President RK Selvamani. The actor had to pause the shooting of his latest film due to the Coronavirus outbreak and understood the impact of the industries’ shut down.

9. Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt is also among the many young Bollywood celebrities to pledge their money to the fight against Coronavirus. The actress shared an Instagram story where she drew attention to all those people who are working tirelessly to combat the virus. She spoke about how she salutes all these people for their incredible efforts to keep us all safe and pledged her contributions to PM CARES as well as the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s relief fund.

It truly is incredible to see actors from different industries come together in their efforts to battle this virus and spread positive messages through their social media accounts. During times of crisis, we must support and help each other as much as we can.
