The Lockdown has ensured we all stay safe within our homes. And while it has been pretty rough on most of us, we can look towards social media for inspiration and positivity during this time of crisis. Although celebrities are in a better situation than a lot of us, many are going out of their way to lighten the mood. From Hollywood to Bollywood to Tollywood, celebrities are coming together online to interact and communicate with their fans across the globe. Two popular names from the 90s (and presently), Gul Panag and R Madhavan, fondly called Maddy by fans, came together on an Instagram live story to relive the 90s era with close fans. Here’s what went down:

Gul runs an Instagram live show called Cool Tech, Live With Gul. She features a multitude of guests and has featured singing sensations, AR Rahman and Vidya Vox in the past. The actress began the live by reminding Madhavan of the way the two befriended one another. The pair had met around 1999 when Gul had been crowned Miss India. Madhavan, at the time, was waiting on his debut film. The pair had first met at a Filmfare award ceremony that Gul was hosting. Gul believed she had done a shoddy job but Madhavan, charming as always, walked up to her and told her she did a great job. After reminiscing over that time the pair moved on to the next topic of discussion.

They began talking about how they were coping with the COVID lockdown in light of recent days. Madhavan spoke candidly about how he is trying not to stick to one solid routine. He believes he doesn’t want to stress anybody in his family out unnecessarily. The actor stated that his family is already having a tough time coping with the stress of the situation.

Madhavan also showed everyone his humorous side (which we all adore) and joked about the snooze option on his alarm. He claimed that he enjoys setting an alarm on purpose and then snoozing it since he has no obligations. He added that for most of his life, his alarm always had the upper hand and control over him. When Gul quizzed him on why he said he doesn’t follow a structure, the actor stated that the normal as they know it would be completely changed. He said that once we get out of this critical situation, things would have changed so it didn’t make sense logically to follow strict old habits (hear hear).

Madhavan also added that once the whole situation ends, people too would have changed and they will be seeking new forms of entertainment. He added that it would be an extremely prolific and exciting time for entertainers or “storytellers” as he called them, within the industry. Gul added to Maddy’s statements and said, “What’s going to entertain the new normal to stay relevant?” The pair further spoke about Gul’s flying lessons and her piloting experience.

Gul broke barriers and stereotypes by becoming one of the first Bollywood actresses to hold a Private Pilot Licence. This lady’s got the beauty, brains, and ability to soar high into the skies. The inspirational actress excitedly spoke about how fans reacted to the news and spoke about how touched she was when she read comments from young girls. Her female fans believes she truly proved that the skies were the limit and juggled multiple roles at once. After all, Gul is also a mother and a married woman, and that too, to a pilot himself. The actress’s husband has been nothing but all praise for her endeavors.

The adorably matched couple share a son named Nihal who was born in 2018. The actress, who was 39 at the time, had kept her pregnancy quiet. In an interview with a popular newspaper, Gul stated “Rishi and I have always valued our privacy. Becoming parents is a special experience and we decided that we’d like to go through it without the distraction of public attention. Family and close friends knew about Nihal but we refrained from posting anything on social media,”. The actress has candidly spoken about coming to terms with parenthood and “learning the ropes”, as she likes to call it.

It’s really inspiring to see two of our celebrity favorites catch up and update us about their interesting lives. We wish Maddy all the luck on his latest projects and we wish Gul success on her Instagram live program. The fact that they take the time out to entertain their fans and keep their mood lifted is pretty incredible. Tell us your thoughts about this article and whether you’re excited to see what’s next.
