Mornings can be pretty rough, especially if you struggle with sleeping on time, just like us. Plus, taming a not-so-good case of bedhead in the morning can be tiring and time-consuming, especially when you’ve got no time to get crafty and try a fancy hairstyle. While using silk pillowcases and tying the hair into a bun are time-tested ways to preserve the hair, we’ve discovered some great hair hacks before hitting the sheets that can save you so much time and pain come morning. So, to prevent knots, tangles, and frizziness in the morning, below are seven amazing overnight hairstyles and hair protection hacks that will save your day. Read on to know what these are:

1. Top-Knot Bun

A top-knot bun is a great way to add style and volume to your otherwise flat hair. Just pull your hair into a tight ponytail, divide it into two sections and twist each section around the hairband anti-clockwise. Secure it using bobby pins and sleep on it. You can also keep the bun loose if a tight one feels uncomfortable. You’ll notice how voluminous and bouncy your hair looks when you wake up.

2. Beachy Waves

If you’re tired of straight hair and want a trendy beachy look for a change, beach waves are a great option to try. Beach waves are easily achievable with overnight braids. While there are plenty of ways to do them, here’s what we found helpful. Divide your hair into four sections or more depending on the natural volume of your hair. Thicker hair should be divided into more sections. Pleat each of these sections into a braid till the end. To get more curls, ensure you braid more sections of your hair. Twist each braid into tiny buns and secure them with hair clips. Your beachy waves are ready!

3. Use A Silk Pillowcase

Taking care of the frizz is essential to ensure that any hairstyle you choose looks great. Nobody wants to wake up to voluminous frizz. Cotton pillowcases aren’t great for your hair, as research shows that cotton fiber can draw out all moisture, create friction and give you unwanted tangles (1). A simple alternative is to use a silk pillowcase instead as this will stop the depletion of hair moisture, prevent frizz and tangles (2). You’ll not only love the luxe feel of it but also wake up to soft and tamed locks to rock any hair look.

4. Pamper Your Hair With Oils

Oils have been used since ancient times to achieve flaunt-worthy hair. Oils can rescue you from lifeless, dry, and damaged hair with their nourishing properties. You can choose argan, coconut, olive, macadamia nut, or similar oils that infuse moisture and rejuvenate your hair (3), (4). If you fancy, you may also opt for oil-infused, leave-in hydrating masks. So, before you go to bed thrice every week, use a luxurious hair oil or mask to pamper your hair and leave it overnight. With regular use, you’ll notice a significant improvement in your hair quality and appearance without expensive hair treatments.

5. Use Microfiber Towels

If you’re someone who likes to wash their hair in the p.m., this is an incredible hair hack to save damage to damp hair. If you wish to protect your hair from looking frizzy and minimize flyaways or split-ends, it’s vital to opt for microfiber towels to dry your locks post hair wash. The microfibre towel absorbs moisture quickly and reduces the chance of getting tangles or frizz. It also prevents dust from settling into your damp hair that cause build-up of grime.

6. Roller Curls

Hair rollers are your safest bet to get easy waves at home, sans the dreaded heat. You can either use velcro or foam rollers to achieve the desired look. Hair rollers are your best friend; if you have fine or colored hair, or you don’t wish to further damage it with hot tools. Be mindful of the direction in which you roll as your hair will mimic that direction of curls. Try rolling with small sections of your hair as you begin. Make sure your hair is detangled and keep it dry and blown out. For the desired texture, you can spray a mist along the length of your tresses before you roll them. Roll them all to the top and clip them to avoid sliding off. Sleep on them overnight, and voila, you’ll wake up to neatly rolled, heatless, stunning curls!

7. Invest In A Dehumidifier
