7 Hacks That’ll Help You Wash Your Hair Less Often

As much as having beautiful and luscious hair is important to most women out there, we cannot ignore the fact that our hair is ridiculously temperamental. This is because we put our tresses through a lot. Lured by the copious number of shampoo commercials that promise to give us our dream hair, we experiment a lot on our tresses. What we fail to realize is that washing our hair often does more damage than good.

Maintaining the natural oils in our hair is essential for a healthy scalp and a healthy crown. But, unwashed hair leads to a greasy appearance, making us look like we have given the shower a perpetual miss. And if you are a social butterfly, you definitely wouldn’t like people to think that.

So, is there a happy middle ground to deal with such situations? Of course, there is. And most of the part comes in the form of all-natural remedies and hacks that will nurture your hair while still keeping the natural oils intact!

Here are some simple hacks that will help you groom your hair without having to wash it so often.

1. Making The Right Choices In Diet Plan

Similar to the colloquial saying “You are what you eat,” your hair is as your body is. The texture of your hair— dry, frizzy, silky or rough is dependant on how healthy your body is. Each strand of hair contains a protein called keratin that needs constant replenishment with the right minerals and vitamins. So, the best way to do it is by following a healthy diet and avoiding junk food.

2. Wash Your Hair Gently

A simple way to make sure you wash your hair less often is to wash it correctly the first time. Use a shampoo that is made up of all-natural or all-organic elements, and is free of parabens and sodium lauryl sulfate. This will cleanse your hair without damaging it, keeping the natural oils untouched.

3. Do Not Touch Your Hair Too Often

Our hair is extremely delicate, and fidgeting with it like it’s a play toy is a bad idea. Playing with your hair—i.e. stroking, twirling or pulling back, known as preening, falls within the prohibited boundary. Our fingers carry dirt and oils that will transfer onto our hair if we keep touching it. Hence, caress your hair; don’t torture it.

4.Dry Shampoo Your Hair

Styling our hair takes a lot of patience; in fact, most of us visit a salon to get it done. And the very next day our hair (which is styled) ends up looking greasy, which compels us to wash it. But we need to thank the hair gods for giving us dry shampoo. You don’t have to wash your hair now!

All you need to do is make partitions of your hair and spray the dry shampoo to the roots. Leave it on for ten minutes and then brush your hair. Your hair looks all fresh like you just took a head shower. Seems nothing less than magic, right?

5. Postpone Your Hair Wash

If you are not in a mood to wash your hair, you could always postpone it. Just wear your hair in curls or waves to take attention away from your greasy scalp. It’s a win-win situation—you end up looking great and you would have also successfully avoided a hair wash. And no, you don’t have to use styling tools for this! Just dampen your hair and tie it up in a bun and leave it overnight. The next morning, you’ll wake up to naturally wavy hair.

6. Avoid Using Hair Products

Excessive usage of hair products will deprive your hair of its natural oils. Get your hands on these hair products only when you are left with no alternative. Hair products tend to leave traces of chemicals in the hair, making your hair unhealthy and lifeless. Try to use natural products as much as you can. Instead of using the bottled conditioners which are loaded with chemicals, resort to DIY hair packs. This way, your hair is conditioned naturally and isn’t damaged.

7. Use The Right Hairbrush

Don’t use plastic brushes to comb your hair. Opt for brushes made of natural fibers instead. Hairbrushes made from boar’s hair are considered to be the best among the natural ones. The advantage of using a hairbrush made of natural elements is that it helps to distribute the oil in your hair evenly, thus leaving your hair healthy. And you wouldn’t have to wash your hair often to get rid of oily patches on the scalp.

Switching to DIY shampoos and organic essential oils will definitely keep our crown healthy. A regular usage will naturally change our haircare routine greatly, and hopefully, for the better.
