Do you have a job interview scheduled anytime soon? Wondering how you can nail it? Yes, we know that a job interview can be quite stressful. Whether it’s your first time or whether you’ve appeared for a few job interviews before, you can never be too prepared. The elements of tension and fear always persist. To help you give your best shot in the interview, here are nine handy tricks that can give you an edge.

1. Keep Your Phone On Silent

Keeping the phone on silent is a given – the very first rule in the book. Once you have kept the phone on silent, just make sure that you keep it in your bag because if it is in your hand, knowingly or unknowingly, you will use it. Avoid keeping it in your trouser pocket as that bulge can look unsightly.

2. Speak In A Confident Manner

Sounding confident will automatically create vibes of positive energy around you and influence your interviewer too. Avoid displaying your nervousness or anxiety as it is likely to be a negative point for you.

3. Tilt Your Chin Slightly To The Side

Show your determination by keeping your chin slightly sideways rather than lifting it up. Lifting your chin upwards can make you look stubborn and aggressive. So it’s better to avoid that stance.

4. Stand Straight

Interviewers try to judge you in every possible way. Practice standing straight rather than slouching down or puffing out your chest to maintain decency in your posture.

5. Smile

A smile can brighten up your face and make you look confident. Do not overexpose your teeth but have a genuine smile on that will put both you and your interviewer at ease.

6. Do Not Tuck Your Elbows In

Tucking your elbows in may make you seem stiff and anxious. Just relax your shoulders and let your arms hang easily at your sides. This will help you feel good and focus more on your interview.

7. When Seated, Clasp Your Hands Around Your Knees

While sitting, crossing your legs at the ankles may not appear good. Instead, cross them at the knees, and clasp your hands around the upper knees. Avoid placing your hands on your lap.

8. Avoid Biting Your Lips

Biting your lips, licking them, or blinking your eyes too often makes you look nervous and overwhelmed. Try and avoid doing so.
