How Napping At Work Makes You A Better Employee

Written by Jyotsana Rao, BE  •

Unable to concentrate on your work? Are your performance levels at the office going down day by day? Worry not! A power nap might be the solution to all your office worries.

Sleeping during office hours is still considered as a sign of laziness. However, recent studies have proven that mid-day napping helps to recharge the employees, and many organizations have already started encouraging their employees to take a nap at work whenever they feel sleepy.

With increasing stress and tension in our jobs and personal lives, a good night’s sleep becomes a distant dream, and the sleepy workers are thus unable to get good work done during the day. By afternoon (post-lunch), the cardiac rhythm of our body dips, and this causes laziness and tiredness. A 20-30 minute nap during this period not only helps your brain relax but also revitalizes your senses, just like proper sleep does.

After realizing this fact, many companies such as Google and HubSpot have installed a nap room in their offices to help their employees fight against sleep deprivation and focus more on work. Even NASA believes in this concept and agrees that short naps in-between work improve the performance of their astronauts.

Has your company installed a nap zone inside your office space yet? If not, it’s time to forward this post to your boss!
